Hi.
Hmm... I notice that this GP3 patch has received less than a ringing
endorsement
on here. I usually find that patches cause all sorts of trouble - you
know, installing
DirectX 6 over Direct X 7, trashing video settings, programs suddenly
not working...
Windows isn't designed for this type of use - it has a monolithic
registry into which
all programs have there various requirements met - so one change can
potentially
reap all kind of havoc.
So perhaps someone braver than me can let me know. Is it worth the
hassle?
Thanks.

I have heart the patch is great, better driving, better FF, better
damagemodelling and so on, but you loose all your add on packs like 2000
cars and so on.

must have for GP3 players.
You don't loose your *.jam files, but the patch does install new tracks
over your previouse circuits folder. The tracks look like the original
ones, but there may be other hidden improvements on them, like AI line or
so forth. I installed the new tracks from the net again and it's now back
to the 2000 season tracks, but very importantly the kurbs are not like the
v1.00 ones. The 1.13 patch fixes the kurbs so you can't even put one wheel
on the grass without feeling the effects :) Upgrading to the 2000 tracks
keeps the new kurbs :)
The only down side for now is that all our editors don't work because the
gp3.exe file is new. So until our fav editors get updated no changing
those carsets or cockpits :(

I think you are a little gun shy Steven. Patching is unfortunately as
common as
dirt these days. Granted Windows doesn't always keep track of updated
files,
but it doesn't come crashing to a halt just because you added a patch or two
or deleted a demo. The questions you should ask are these:
Am I satisfied with how GP3 plays on my system now? Do I need any of the
features included in the patch? If I patch it and screw things up, is it
worth my time to simply re-install? Yes bad things can happen, but most
often they can
be tracked down and fixed or just revert back to the original...it wasn't
too
hard to install in the first place was it?
