Amazingly, I've only just got around to getting this, I saw it cheap. Anyway, I installed the game just fine (Windows version) but the game crashes me back to desktop when I go to start a race. Is it not Win 98 compatible, or is there a patch, or anything like that? I won't go into specifics of my system, because I'm guessing that this is common. Thanks! -- Colin Harris Bomber Racing: Http://fullspeed.to/Bomber ICQ 25485061

I've been running the windows version that was included with CART Racing. It has suprised me as very stable. I had heard horror stories of the original patched dos-to-win95 version being very unstable. But I have run hundreds of laps without a single lockup. I'm using win98 se. Since you can start the program, but can't start a race, perhaps your carset is corrupted. Have you added new carsets? If so...you might try changing back to the original carset first to makesure it runs. Then try adding another carset if that works, THEN try your current carset...if the program crashes again...you'll know why. dave henrie "Colin Harris" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:4t2K5.989$[email hidden]...

Thanks for replying, Dave, but this is the original installation, so it's not the carset. There's obviously something in my system that it doesn't like.... -- Colin Harris Bomber Racing: Http://fullspeed.to/Bomber ICQ 25485061 Dave Henrie <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:zb4K5.17969$[email hidden]... > I've been running the windows version that was included with CART Racing. > It has suprised me as very stable. ok, I guess step two..did you install the dos version via windows? or are you running the full win95 version. The shortcut should point to windy.exe and your menus should be mouse driven not keyboard. Next...Your video card settings may not be properly configured for the low resolutions ICR2 displays. Make sure you go into the options and video menus and choose the 640x480 screen size. And there is a small check box for using Microsoft's DX for video display, try running a race with both methods. Finally, before you boot the game, drop your desktop resolution down to 640x480. These are just shots in the dark. Good luck dave henrie "Colin Harris" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:vd9K5.1569$[email hidden]...

Dave, you're a superstar! It wasn't, actually, the Direct Draw, but it was the Direct Sound that it didn't like for some reason (my card, a SB 1024 live)...anyway, a quick uncheck, and I'm in full 640x480 glory!
