My year-old LWFF just developed a slight `rought spot' around the center
position. When I turn the wheel from left to right, I get a raspy spot as
the wheel passes thru center, before resuming smooth movement. I have tried
taking the wheel apart and looked through the mechanism, lubed the cable
etc, but no major improvements. This is Not the scratchy feeling mentioned
in Jens Schumi's website. It feels like there's a little pebble just
scraping the cable as it passes through center or something.
If anyone here has encountered this problem before, please let me know your
solution!
Cheers,
Stanley
Stanley,
You have to tell apart few noises and feelings:
scratchy: the cables jump over each other since misaligned
notchy: bent motor-spindle
squeeky: plastic-bushings mating call ;-)
zoiiiinnnngggg: check out my page for this one
The raspy spot you describe is due to slack at the pot-shaft. you could wrap
some office-tape around the pot-shaft to get a tighter fit. There is no need to
disassemble the mechanism for this, you can take oujt the pot from the rear
side.
