Despite being involved in some pretty huge shunts, both the AI and myself
seem unable to damage our cars enough to force a retirement! This is with
the setting on "Hardcore."
Do the AI cars ever retire? Is there a way of increasing the likelihood of
them retiring?

Addressed and fixed/changed/ to at least acceptable are two different things
entirely.
Everything in NH is brain-dead other than the much pimped driving model.
Forget damage and physics. How many times do you see cars fly? The game is
just a silly mess.
Or maybe everyone other than a few are fun arcade are guys asking to much.
Oh well N4 in a 5-6 months so who cares.

Any Idea when the second patch will be released?

I don't think there is a second patch. I think there is a final release of
the 1st patch. I think most of us have the beta patch..

I see that all the time on ESPN when viewing Nascar races don't you? Not
long to N4. I just think there is
too much to be done to make Nascar Heat a full blown
Nascar Sim sadly I must say I consider this to be for the
most part a arcade game with decent physics and great graphics.

races with all the strategy etc. They do talk a great deal about the Nascar
Heat and that portion of the program delivers as promised.
(ducking!) :)
