This is a classic. He manages to insult the people who buy the game and look like a sucker at the same time. Half the messages in this post were deleted BTW, even though it is a "Dump line". They are just deleting anything that offends them now. Hey it's their board :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Dump Line (Reply-Only Folder) - another weekend without Previous | Next From: DAN_HASBRO Oct-28 7:02 pm To: RUPPS unread 6 of 12 "Let me tell you, Please don't assume how I as a consumer feel. I've bought EVERY racing sim out there, and lets just say that none of them are bug free. Do I get upset about it? NO. Why ? I put it in perspective. It's not brain surgery, and no one is going to die if some issue in a game (and these are games) doesn't work the way I think it should. I assume that the company will fix the issues, and give them the opportunity to do so. Gotta tell ya I've never been able to play Multiplayer with N3. I don't know why, I could never connect , or I always got booted. Am I pissed off ? NO why should I be. It is a game. There are alot more important things in my life to worry about than not being able to race in a game." Anyone have any swampland to sell? Dan has a life, will buy anything and will never complain :-)

Ummmm......thats hardly dumb. He cares about REAL things in life. Nascar Heat is ONLY a game....although a good game. And now you make out that he is now "dumb" - I think that only really makes you a "Dick" Ash "Hannabill" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:mNuL5.58603$[email hidden]...

So that's why I got banned from the NH message board by Dan. I complained about the cautions. The cautions are totally unacceptable in NH. It almost makes it so you can't run a season. I love watching the game try to figure where the cars are supposed to line up after a caution. It can go on for 50 laps. Since Danny is in charge, I guess I struck a nerve. Oh well I will cuss it til N4. I also pointed out that he misspelled a few words in his post. I was out of there...lol G Patricks <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Who doesn't care about real things in life. I also care, however I have a job to do. Next time I screw it up I will call upon the real things in life. It's only a computer system. That way I won't have to fix it...Think it will work? Ashley McConnell <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8tmpmv$oqq$[email hidden]...

I think a big part of the stink here is patience. "We" point out a critical flaw in the NH sim. We then get a response or two and then very few responses after that. Suddenly we think: a) we are being ignored b) they aren't working on the problem c) both of the above. Then "we" start getting mad. Since "we" paid good money for the product, we feel that we are the boss. And "we" want results now. Pretty soon old fashioned manners are out the window and "we" get down-right cantankerous. Shouting to forums something like this: "FIX THE #$#(# thing! NOW!" will most likely provoke the responses you got from Ed. Irritation and banning. But also..a repeated request like... "Hey Ed...I asked you yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that and the day before that when are you going to fix the problem..." can be just as imflamatory. Programmers like MGI have to serve two masters. One the consumer, that is witnessed the by release of patches, and two the Publisher who pays the bills. Publishers have budgets...when programming hurdles start exceeding the budgets, then the money can be cut off and the team sent on it's way or on to it's next project. So some of our esteemed users are proud they have pushed MGI too far. Thats nice. They have served the community by repeatedly pointing out the obvious. Well done. You have spent your money and now feel that effort is owed to you. Perhaps investigating and abstaining from a purchase until it meets your approval would have been a better solution. We have already seen one patch that catered to the advanced user more-so than the core audience. We have heard they are working on another patch to continue to refine the product. (personally I would favor a simple solution like turning off collisions during yellow flag situations) But whatever solution they are able to produce given the state of the code and availability of money to search for the answers....I'll accept that they are doing what they can. If they choose to limit my access to their forum, I won't get all in a snit. I won't go trumpeting off how I said this and that which pissed them off. That won't get things fixed. I'm not saying we have to roll over and take whatever MGI sold us, but civility does NOT have to be abandoned to get results. and I've made a spelling or grammatical error or two just in this message...big deal... My bottom line is this: NH is a big advancement in the driving realism area. But a large step back in real-world(nascar) race craft. Remember, N2 didn't have double file restarts. N99 had limited mulitplayer capability. The MGI team dropped the ball in a few areas, so here's hoping they can at least improve on those items before they begin work on NH2 or whatever is next for them. But my shouting and yelling and spreading foul language around won't cause them to work any faster, harder, or more diligently. I will point out what I percieve to be either poor choices or outright errors, but I won't HOUND them til I get a response that "I" deem adequate. dave henrie
IHMO, I think at this point they could care less about the true sim racer. They've probably sold all the copies they're going to to the sim racers, and they've released a patch that they haven't made a nickel on. Why spend any more time trying to fix something that will be left in the dust when N4 is released. Do we think the TV ads during the Nascar races are directed at us? Doubt it...rather our kids. Papy still rules the roost. Nothing has come close to GPL in two years, now a GPL based N4 is just around the corner. Bob Geddes Hannabill wrote:

If I thought they couldn't care less, then I would feel as though we had been abandoned. A patch for the stuff that bugs people would be nice, but I have personally had at least 500$ worth of fun from the game so far and I'm not sick of it yet. In my book that's a darn good entertainment value for 40$, perfect or not. ~daxe
Well said, Mr. Daxe. In fact, that's probably one of the most enlightened observations regarding computer games, period. How many times have we walked out of a movie feeling as if we'd been cheated out of the admission price? Ditto books, ditto videos and ditto many other things where we've paid money and felt that we hadn't received good value. GPL, for example, must rate in my book as the gretaest return on investment ever. No doubt others feel the same about their favourite game, Heat included. (I bought Heat and, although the behaviour of the AI is frustrating, I still enjoy the game. It has become a personal endeavour to beat the AI at their own game! :-) In the meantime, I'll await the release of the second patch without getting my knickers in a twist). -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- daxe <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > > > A patch for the stuff that bugs people would be nice, but I have > personally had at least 500$ worth of fun from the game so far and I'm > not sick of it yet.
