Nick, Goat of the Pyranees 02 Nov 2000 16:23 UTC#223419
How well does GPL run under Direct3d? I'm thinking of buying this afternoon, so I want to make sure it runs good on my TNT2. Nick
It'll run real nice, but will need to get the D3d patch. On Thu, 02 Nov 2000 16:23:34 GMT, "Nick, Goat of the Pyranees" <[email hidden]> wrote: >How well does GPL run under Direct3d? What kind of horsepower have you got backing up the TNT2? Jan. =--- Nick, Goat of the Pyranees wrote... > How well does GPL run under Direct3d? I'm thinking of > buying this afternoon, so I want to make sure it runs > good on my TNT2. > > Nick >
This is what it says on the SCGT start-up screen: AuthenticAMD 1000mhz 64 megs RAM 16 megs VRAM Nick Jan Verschueren wrote:

Damn, 64 MB behind a 1gig Athalon, what a waste! On Thu, 02 Nov 2000 16:44:01 GMT, "Nick, Goat of the Pyranees" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Actually, it dawned on me to look at the sheet from Gateway. It says AMD Athelon 750 mhz, is that any better? Nick Tyler Eaves wrote:

To say that GPL would work fine on that config would be an understatement... you got nothing to worry about. You do need to upgrade the game to V1.2 and apply the seperate D3D patch (see Papyrus/Sierra website) though. Jan. =--- Nick, Goat of the Pyranees wrote...

I bought my copy as well as a few other hard to find games from these guys and have had good luck.. cya dunk http://www.dragon.ca/games/sports/grandprixlegends.htm Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

In relation to this, I've finally managed to get GPL this week (after having it on back order for 2 months). I've downloaded and applied v1.2 and D3D patch, but when I try the game in D3D mode, the screen comes up fine and shows around 50FPS, but the car barely moves (if you sit on accelerate for about 10 seconds you get to about 15 MPH). Is this a known issue with certain cards? I'm running on a Dell Laptop, with ATI Mobility 128 graphics. D3D works fine on SCGT on this machine. GPL works fine in software mode, but obviously is limited to 640x480. Any thoughts? Jim
Check Office Depot. In Canada, at least, I saw a ton of 'em on the Sierra "Classics" shelf. I got mine from dragon.ca a few months ago. Depends on what all you have. I am running a Celeron 566 @850 mhz, a GeForce2 MX card, and with the d3d patch, GPL is absolutely gorgeous. I was extremely pleased, and the framerates are great. -- Don Burnette Dburn in N3 and Legends ICQ# 74084566 "Nick, Goat of the Pyranees" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > How well does GPL run under Direct3d? The screen should not show 50fps since the game is limited to a max of 36. I don't know what this 15MPH thing is...someone else will have to answer that. JB "Jim Norton" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
