Help.......i was lucky enough to win an online aauction for Microsoft cart precision racing, however the prog was from Germany and all of the game is German.....I cant understand a word of it!
is there a patch out there to convert my copy of the sim or is there any German players who have an English version that they would like to swap?
German copy of CART Precision Racing and its reputation
A user who won a German-language copy of Microsoft's CART Precision Racing asked for an English patch. Responses mostly criticised the game, especially its force feedback and AI, while some praised its setup system and telemetry and compared it with IndyCar Racing II. The thread ended with a discussion of base64-encoded posts in Free Agent.

Lucky? That's what you think. CPR was the first game I payed full ticket for
and ended up throwing in the trash to prevent me from EVER trying to
install it again!
Why didn't you just buy an American version for $10? That's all it's going
for, and it's not worth that.
Oh, you'll THINK it's ok for awhile, and then you'll realize you're just
getting more and more frustrated with it because it's ALMOST right. It
SHOULD be right. It's CLOSE to right.
But it ain't.

Wow Kev... I guess that one brought back some bad memories.<g>
I agree though, what killed it for me was the FF, I thought it was ok with a
normal wheel, but that I'd get more consistent using FF. Big mistake.

I first bought CPR because it was newer and more up to date the ICRII. Why
spend $40 bucks on last year's game when this year's game is out?
Well, I bought ICRII about a year ago cheap, and it looks old. I mean you'll
know it's old the minute it fires up. CPR looks MUCH better.
Oh yeah. I'm still driving it ICRII. It's a hoot, and you can convert many
of the tracks to GPL, so it's worth picking up just for that. Up to date car
sets are available for it too. Looks like other people think it's still a
hoot too.
If you see it pick it up. It's good cheap fun.

What is sad is that I think GP3 feels similar to CPR...yet people still play
GP3. Sure CPR had crappy AI...but the rest of the game is pretty darn good.

There are bits of it that I've never seen matched. The pure quantity of data
that it provided you with, particularly in the best laps catagory, is
unsurpassed.
AI, that would be aritificial idiots, right?
I found it at least drivable on ovals, although I was always bothered by the
car blatently turning on needle driven through its middle.
I was NEVER able to even get it to function properly on road courses. Brakes
in particular were always an on/off switch affair for me and nothing I could
do would change that.
Again, I did spend many hours driving it, but every hour saw me enjoy it
less and less.
Kevin F. Gavitt
Well I think the brakes feel kinda like in F1 2k. You can modulate the
brakes, but they lock up far before full brakes. It is amazing how people
hated brakes that locked up at that time in sim racing (no other game was
doing it then) and now with GPL out, it is all ok. On road courses people
normally got mad because of the bumps and spinning over them...but the
default setups that came with it were pretty crappy at handling the bumps.
I have gone back to the game and developed some very nice setups (anyone
watch the Cart mid ohio race? They were having trouble over the humps and
bumps too) that will handle the bumps, but still require throttle modulation
to keep from spinning (once again, people didn't dream of throttle
modulation like that until GPL came out...now that it is out, it is ok if
you can get wheelspin in a game).
I think the game was a little ahead of it's time in physics, but a little
behind it's time in the track design (excessive bumps in some places, such
as Elkhart's front straight). With the track editor that was released, the
poor track design was pretty much fixed, but people had already written off
the game by that time.

One models it great, the other doesn't. It's not because it's a feature
that it is correctly modeled.

One models is great, the other doesn't (another time).

Uh, I see your point but I WISH CPR had the AI (flawed as it is) that NH
has!! NH has flaws but it still makes for a pretty enjoyable single player
game. The AI does some stupid things but also does some smart things. To be
honest, I can't think of any racer that has great AI. I just raced Indycar
II today and it has some moronic AI. CPR on the other hand had NO AI, even
after the patch! They didn't even model FCY's at all!! With a few patches,
that could've been a great game. My favorite part of the game to this day is
the sound. I LOVED the sound of the rev limiter.
If the MGI keep their word and continue to improve Nascar Heat, I think it
will be a great game. One has to take into consideration all the features
they DID include for a first game. Look at GP3, it's on its third go round
and they live in a cocoon ignoring all the features the competition has
added along the way. If anything, NH will make N4 a better game. Competition
always does that.
