DTR and DTR: SC have just gone on sale today in the UK as a bundle for
29.99 so I decided to give them a whirl.
After half an hour of driving these beasts I realise I have no idea how to
drive them. My first impressions are that they should be good fun and that
they are totally different from GPL, my usual poison.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to go about these sims?
Setups, driving techniques, all suggestions are welcome.
Also, are there any add-ons or patches I should look out for?
DTR is at v1.03 (Europe) and DTR:SC is v1.0. They are specially packaged for
the UK.
Cheers
Phil

How to drive them? Two words "gingerly" and "opposite lock."
(oops, three words) They DO NOT want to be full throttle until you are
damn sure that the trajectory is in the direction that you want it.
One of the things that I do is to enter a turn fairly high, lift
momentarily (weight transfer to the front wheels) and cut the wheel to
the left. Then feed in the throttle while maintaining opposite lock.
I find myself holding the wheel with fingertips only as I feel my way
around the track.
Notice how skanky the cars look? They get that way because it's not
unusual to use an opponent's car instead of a brake when entering a
turn. If you can turn in lower when contesting a corner, you can hold
your position if you lean on the other guy . . . he'll hold you in the
groove.
Also remember that the groove becomes more slippery as the race goes
on, so you may find that while the leaders are battling for position,
you can drive around them (not slide) around on the outside.
Like any short track racing, unwind the wheel as rapidly as you can
after exiting the turn
It's like driving in the rain. Feed in the inputs gently, makes lots
of little corrections as you go and, oh yeah, stay off the brakes.
That's the best I can do right now.
I also found that I absolutely could not drive the sim unless I had it
set to display the interior/dash/rollbar . . . that's the only way I
can get the feel for the yaw input
YEEEHAAAW!!
