Yes, I get the same shadow problems. Have you noticed the cars shadows, they are very strange when running in hardware mode. Performance is about the same at 800x600 in both hw and sw, so I use software most of the time. When doing LAN games, I use 640x480 with the virtual cockpit disabled. This way I can get a maximum of 60~65% PO alone, what gives me, under rain, about 110% in multiplayer, what I can leave with (we can't disable the wheel in HW, another weird thing). And yes again, I run several other simulators in my Toshiba. The ones I run the most are Nascar 3 and Rally Championship 2000, both with fantastic hardware graphics and performance. Another driving game (not simulator) I like is Driver, but has some textures problems sometimes. I almost forgot Superbyke World Championship (not the 2000 one), it very smooth in D3D also. Things are a little better since I downloaded the new drivers (Toshiba says they are Win Me, but runs fine on 98 SE and are 7.0a certified). I have less graphics problems, but some are still there. Hi, I have a very strange situation. My computer is a Toshiba PIII-600 with a S3 Savage (8MB) D3D video board. It runs GP3 very well in both software and hardware mode. The strange thing is that the game always asks for graphics calibration. It seems that the routine thinks something has changed and offer to do a new calibration. Is there a way to stop this? And yes, I have done the calibration several times and it didn't change a thing. I am now using version 1.13 but this problem occurs in 1.00 also. My DX version is 7a and DXDiag does not show any problems at all. Thanks, Brian
Happens on my notebook as well. I just click "no" and forget about it. I use manual settings anyway to get a better framerate. Stephen Brian <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8u69c6$ti5q$[email hidden]... > Hi, > > I have a very strange situation. My computer is a Toshiba PIII-600 with aS3

Have you solved (or do you even have) the strange flashing shadows problem? If I put a line in my cards.txt file about alphawithck (or something like that) then I get steady shadows, but they are solid, inky black. I find running in hardware I have much more of a first corner slowdown than in software. Do you run any other driving sims on your Toshiba? regards Stephen Brian <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8u6it5$vt9j$[email hidden]... > I do the same but it is annoying. These are pretty annoying and I use my Voodoo 2 instead which is a shame because apart from the shadows the game looks pretty nice with the Savage 4. Chris

Beautiful, isn't it? I found the framerate in the 2000 demo consistently about 15% quicker than in the 2001 demo, so I'm looking for that in the bargain bins. > Things are a little better since I downloaded the new drivers (Toshibasays > they are Win Me, but runs fine on 98 SE and are 7.0a certified). For GPL I can only get it running if I run the D3D patch, I run FRAPS in the background, and I use older drivers from ASUS (glad I saved a copy of them). My next experiment might be to see what will run under Win2000, as gaming is only a few evenings a week, and I am getting tired of Win98's crashes on my machine. cheers Stephen
