Dan,
I have a T2 but don't remember it as being any different. I just used a
tension spring from the hardware store. It's about 1 1/4" and operates in a
straight line to minimize breaking.
It's mounted to the rear of the baseplate in line with where the old torque
spring surrounded the plastic spacer. I have a heavy cord looped under the
plastic spacer and hooked on the screw that the old spring pushed against.
I chose the spring length so that it never rides over the spacer. It only
requires drilling a hole for the mounting screw at the back on opening a
slot in the cover to allow the spring to access the pedal pivot. I also
added another at the front so I can still drive if the primary does break.
The front sping does have to be weaker and able to stretch to twice it's
normal length. The plain old tension springs are easier to find and replace
than pulling the pedal apart to change the standard spring.
Good Luck,
Jeff

anyone know where springs or a tune-up kit can be purchased for my old but
faithful T1? A good battle for 3rd place during an SCGT race at mosport
popped my accelerator spring. doh. any advice is appreciated. and i know
i should just buy a newer model.
Here's My solution Dan. I was running a T1 a while back, but I now use a
LWFF and I won't go back. The T1 is for my 7 week old when he's ready to
take me on :O)
I drilled a hole in the base and the front of the pedal (Both in my case as
eventually both springs went :O) and used an exhaust spring off a Kart.
Worked a treat and I could set each spring at different lengths to get a
stiffer brake pedal. Worked great!!
Hope this helps

not sure if T1 is the same.
