Hi,
I've a 3D Prophet II MX card which suffers from the TOCA2-freeze-with-
much-hard-drive-thrashing problem. Thus far, the only way I've managed
to get it going is to use the old 3.68 drivers. They work surprisingly
well even although they don't strictly support my card.
I'm just curious if anybody has figured out what the problem is with
the later drivers and TOCA2. I've even tried the latest beta 6.47
drivers which the same result.

Before you buy.
The GeForce 2 has a number of problems that need to be sorted out. The 6.xx
drivers in particular have an alarming number of incompatibilities (e.g.
DTRSC flickering) E-mail NVidia is the only way.
Hard drive thrashing shoud have nothing to do with your video card unless
you have to load it very large textures and this should not be a problem
with TOCA2. I've got GeForce DDR and it runs fab at full detail and even
with FSAA turned on with every nvidia driver I've tried (I'm now on 6.47
which is the best so far).
How much memory do you have? are you running any rpograms in the backgound?
Have you set a sufficently large permant swap file? What have you set your
AGP aperture size to in the BIOS? What are your display settings?
To see if it is an AGP problem within TOCA2 set "use low res textures" and
set colour depth to 16bit not 32 and see if you still get the HD trashing.
32MB should be plenty to pre-load in all the textures even at the top
quality setting so I don't think this is the problem but it's worth a try.

I've experienced the same thing and occasional lockups and no way in hell
FSAA works on my system on Toca2.
I'm running a PIII 933mhz, 128meg 133sdram, Herc GeForce 2 GTS 64 meg card,
and plenty of HD space....
If I set the resolution to 1024x768 it loads the tracks VERY VERY slow, and
often will lock up... No other game does this, so I also thought it was the
drivers, I'm on 6.31, but will d/l and try the 6.47 (I assume you got them
from NVidia's site?) and see if that makes a difference...
