Just curious to know what you people out there recommend as the best FF
games available today.
At the moment I have a ferrari force feedback wheel playing GP3, Colin
McRae Rally 1 and Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit.
Would appreciate users comments on other interesting FF driving games.
cheers

Shivvy,
Your probably expecting this, posting to r.a.s. as you have,
but GPL has to have the most realistic FF effects of any
driving game.
I've played all of those you list, plus many more and there really
is nothing to beat GPL. You can even feel the engine shake
through the wheel as you blip the throttle.
The main I think with FF is to be able to feel the tire grip on
the road and warn you of loss of grip/traction BEFORE you
see the results. Most games will give you a jolt when you
hit the wall, or judder as you ride the rumble-strips but this
isn't what FF should all be about IMO.
In this respect the next best game for me was TOCA2, very realistic
in this regard when you are on the limit, with my ACT Labs Force RS,
although felt odd on an MS FF. Viper Racing, which you may see in
a bargain bin also felt very realistic to me (only played the demo)
Of the newer games, Nascar Heat is pretty good IMO.

And it is the best sim out there to simulate Todays sportscars (vipers ;)

it without ff.
I also have a new Act-Labs wheel but it seems to be something wrong with it,
it will not work properly with GPL or any other sim for that matter.

It seems
to be a much forgotton game as there's not much talk of it round here which
is a shame because it really is very good indeed and apart from having a
cracking good driver model it great fun multi-player.
Need for Speed Porsche is pretty good and is a good arcade /sim compromise
and it's rather good fun hairing around sideways.
TOCA2's FF is gain pretty good and again has quite a good arcade/sim
compromise.
GP3 and F1 2000 on the other hand have crap FF and Colin McRae Rally is even
worse.
Rally Championship has the best FF in a rally game and looks really stunning
but somehow the handling doesn't feal quite right. don't get me wrong it's
good fun but the cars seem to lack that weighty feel you get in Viper and
GPL and Colin McRae (the suspension doen't seem to move about it as if
you're in a go-kart) Very good FF mind you.
You can get GPL and Viper Racing in the bargin bin and it'll be the bet 10
you ever spend.
