Not bad. Overall I like it, there are a couple of issues though. No manual gear selection? When coming off the track and pressing the brake pedal it makes the car go in reverse. No way to change this? Sense of speed is a little low, but as I said, overall I like it.

I can't find any reference to it on the EA website though.

I have the SAME PROBLEM with this demo as I have had with the GP3 and STCC1 demos. I can't get it setup(installed) The file dloads ok, I get the files unpacked to a temp folder, but when I choose the english (or sweedish) language option, I get an error box "setup failed to launch installation engine: Error Loading type library/DLL anyone ever seen this?? dave henrie
the good news is i have had this ... the bad news is that it took a format to fix it .... sorry dave ... im not sure where the problem is but i believe its with file associations in the registry. I tried but couldnt fix it. shane "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:nD3P5.10980$[email hidden]... > I have the SAME PROBLEM with this demo as I have had > with the GP3 and STCC1 demos. well thats a start...yer the first person to have even seen it. Microprose/Hasbro support could only suggest making sure I had all my sys tray programs turned off. (that didn't help) The funny thing is...I'm "pretty sure" I had the first STCC demo working on this machine...well ok, an older vid card but everything else shoulda been kosher. I probably 'should' do a format...it's been a while and windows could sure use a house cleaning.. dave henrie "Shane Lowry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:0o6P5.3089$[email hidden]... > the good news is i have had this ... the bad news is that it took a format > to fix it .... sorry dave ... im not sure where the problem is but ibelieve > its with file associations in the registry. I can't get it setup(installed) Sorry, I can't help. It installed OK here (Win 2k). I just wanted to add... what do people think about it? It is a *lot* better than STCC (version 1), but I'm not quite sure if it's up to the standard I want. Good points: - Reduced grip - Better AI card (still not terribly good, though!) - Rear view mirror!!! (but it doesn't look like a mirror!) Bad points: - The game is still too easy ('Very hard' just isn't!) - It's difficult to 'feel' the car... the tyres don't seem to screech near/on the limit, or under braking (anyone modded the sound files???) - No 'look left/right' (a la GPL/TOCA2) in cockpit mode I *really* want a good Super Touring sim. At the moment, I see three basic choices: - F1-2000(CE) with 'TOCA2' patch - STCC 2 - World Sports Cars with yet-to-be-developed ST patch :-) Which sounds like the best? What do you all think of the F1-2000 TOCA2 patch?! Richard.

I just re-installed windows 98 se and that has fixed the problem. Of course now all my dx versions and drivers are out of date...but I'll be back up to full speed soon. Thanks for your input Shane. dave henrie "
Get it at http://www.bhmotorsports.com/ Go to F1 2000, Utilities, Patches, and look for Touring Cars. Download my improved settings at: http://www.geocities.com/agakuu/default.html Download this and place it into your Season00/Vehicles directory. It changes the cars to FWD, makes them heavier, have 6 gears, a bit slower (tops out at about 155 and takes longer to get there) not as good brakes, etc. Feels like a Touring Car. I like the feel of the STCC2 demo. I do have some quibles...but I don't know which of these are full game problems or just demo limitations. There doesn't "seem" to be a damage model..And the cars really Hunt for the the optimum line, if they approach a corner off line, they JERK severely to get lined up. And then sometimes the creep around corners...And the setup options are pretty limited. But the look, and feel of the cars is good, sound good. They have PLENTY of controller options...that is a must these days.. My LWFF was detected with both combined and split axis when I tested both settings. A V5 can run 4xfsaa with a 1024x760 screen...at least with only the 8 cars in the demo. I never got to play the fully patched STCC but compared to the original demo of the first game, this effort is a big improvement. dave henrie
