I read in here that N4 will have a fully functioning analog clutch. Does anyone know if we will have to use the clutch to get the car rolling (like a real WC car), and have the clutch in during pits? That would be sweet. It would just add to the imersion effect. We're getting pretty close to almost being there. All I need to do is to dress in a race suit, and get the heat up to about 125 degrees, and I'll be set.. LOL Dean
Ever try F355 Challenge? Go to your nearest acarde and give it a test drive... It feels and reacts like the real d@mn thing... As for fricton point, you KNOW from the engine sound, grips etc... The pedal itself doesn't have to have FFB. Krakus wrote:

I would think it would be an option, and here's why. YES! Because why have a clutch if you don't need to use it... NO! Very few people have controllers with a 3rd pedal at this time. (I have heard you can connect a 2nd set of pedals but most people can't even connect a VCR properly so that too limits the # of people who could take advantage of the feature.) So probably a toggled option somewhere in the setup. dave henrie "Dean Williams" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:FSAO5.124953$[email hidden]... > I read in here that N4 will have a fully functioning analog clutch. I would hope so as that is what it's like in Nascar Heat. If you don't have the clutch depressed when you jump in your car, you stall the engine. I just can't see how a clutch pedal on a computer setup would be usable, to be honest. If it's just a regular spring-loaded pedal, you wouldn't be able to feel the friction point, nor it engaging, so how would you use it? Also, the sim would really need to model it slipping, etc., so... granted, it's a nice decoration, but unless it's fancy and has some sort of force feedback, I don't see the point of it.

I tried this with my old VW Golf the other day. There is absolutely no feedback through the clutch pedal. When the clutch engages you feel it in your butt. Of course, you don't have that luxury in a race sim, so maybe it should be faked through the clutch pedal instead. -- Olav K. Malmin remove .spam when replying

Not to mention that a racing clutch doesn't slip.....much :-) I had one in my road car a couple of years ago along with a Quaife close ratio gearbox with straight cut gears and looooong first gear and a regular rear end (3:42), darn thing did 60 mph in 1st gear and 120 in 4th, let's just say that I didn't use it for my daily commuting around town....:-) Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy "Team Mirage" http://www.teammirage.com/ "The Pits" http://www.theuspits.com/ * Spam is for losers who can't get business any other way * "Spamkiller" http://www.spamkiller.com

You dont get feedback when turning the wheel, but people still race sims...it is something you get used to. Well, at least you can SEE the car turn in response to steering inputs...<g> Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +49.12 Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience... Remove SPAM-OFF to reply.

Yup! Used to have carbon racing clutch installed in my 3rd gen RX-7, it just doesn't slip! Need some getting used to at first, and might stall from time to time when starting up hill, but it sure is sweet!! The carbon clutch along with C's short stoke shift is the best combo!!
