Confirms my suspicions, GP is gonna be knocked off the top VERY SOON. Just look at this one http://www.spielecity.net/show.php3?Bild=/previews/S_F1RacingChamp/6.jpg Individual car shapes, v. sexy 3d gfx, Wing Angles are different in dfferent pics too :))) And just look at that shot of Eau Rouge. I could go on about this till Xmas, so I think I'll shut up and let you all see for yourselves. You mean graphics right? Not so sure about physics. yeah of course. Though, looking at the effort Ubi have put into getting track accuracy right (see ww.gamespot.co.uk) and the gfx so sweet, I can't see that they're gonna release this game without that final ingredient being right. Remember when we first saw those GP3 screens, and as more appeared, the less enthusiastic we all became. Maybe this'll be the same, but somehow I don't think it will. I think the physics in F1RC will great like in the other versions before. This will be not a game like F1WGP or F12000. They have the experience in F1 games and it will be a full simulation and not a cheap arcade game. F1Phil

My bet is that Ubi will have trouble achieving this level of graphics while also achieving near-GPL (or GP3 or F12000) levels of physics realism. F1WGP looks GREAT, but it also leans more towards arcade rather than realism in the physics department. I think this is the nature of the state of computing at this point in time; the horsepower available calls for some compromise between eye candy and ultimate realsim, and I don't see F1RC as being a revolutionary product in the physics department based on what Ubi's worked on in the past. -- JB In article <WlfP5.635$vf7.7178@news2-hme0>, "R4" <[email hidden]> wrote: > yeah of course. > Though, looking at the effort Ubi have put into getting trackaccuracy right > (see ww.gamespot.co.uk) and the gfx so sweet, I can't see thatthey're gonna > release this game without that final ingredient being right. > Remember when we first saw those GP3 screens, and as more appeared,the less > enthusiastic we all became. "Realsim" -- it was a typo, but we ought to consider making it a staple amongst the RAS regulars! <G> -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Damn! Am I actually finding myself in agreement with you for a chance, Ronny? <G> I've been worried that the cockpit screen shots from the Playstation version might reflect what we get in the final PC version -- which would be about what we got with F1WGP. FWIW, remember that SCGT *almost* shipped without a cockpit view -- it was a last-minute add-on by the ISI guys, I believe, in response to the demands of the sim community at large. -- JB In article <[email hidden]>, Ronald Stoehr <[email hidden]> wrote: > R4 wrote: > > > > Confirms my suspicions, GP is gonna be knocked off the top VERYSOON. > > Just look at this one > > http://www.spielecity.net/show.php3?Bild=/previews/S_F1RacingChamp/6.jpg

So far, I haven't seen any reason to think there will be any camber in the turns, same as all the other modern F1sims. None have any of the subtle dips on the inner part of the hairpins like in GPL and what I see on the TV broadcasts of F1 races. Tom

You would rate F12000 in the "game" category (as opposed to the "sim" category)? Have you ever played F12000? Have you ever played GPL? Are you on crack? You may know F1, but your credibility on the issue of sims in general just went down a notch in my book. Geez -- where's Greg Cisko when I need him? -- JB In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] (F1phil) wrote: > I think the physics in F1RC will great like in the other versionsbefore. Have you guys even LOOKED at F1WGP and F1 2000? F1WGP may be an arcade- like offering, but it offers some substantial camber in certain turns (there is probably too much camber in the track as you head towards the double-hairpin section). F1 2000 also features pretty accurate camber as well; for example, at Indy, the final turn ("Turn 1" of the oval), it is DEFINITELY a banked turn (did I mention that F1 2000 is also the ONLY current "modern" F1 sim to feature the new home of the US Grand Prix, Indianapolis?). -- JB (Where is that damned Cisko character?!) I play F1 2000 all the time. After a LOT of tweaking it was my favorite only because I wanted to do modern F1. Lately I've gone back more to GPL. The camber is very rare in F1 2000. What it does have is roller coaster hills where there aren't supposed to be any! On the real tracks, the chicanes at Hockenheim don't have much in elevation changes, but they do have camber. Silverstone has camber at the Esses, Suzuka has camber, Montreal has camber on some of the turns and subtle dips at the inner parts of the hairpins that you can see the best drivers exploit. F1 2000 sustitutes hills for camber. The tracks are nothing compared to the efforts of even just the GPL addons. One of the reasons I didn't get F1WGP is because of the lack of realistic camber in the Suzuka demo. (If, as you say, the other tracks are better, maybe I'll spring for it.) F1RS didn't have realistic camber and I don't see anything yet to think that F1RS3 will either. The other day I was playing SCGT at Laguna Seca. Couldn't help but notice how the track is like a slot car set with books and blocks for elevation changes, but no camber. I booted up ICR2, (couldn't believe I still had it on the harddrive) for comparison and Laguna Seca is MUCH more sophisticated. Tom jbodin wrote;
