Wow - I've *always* wanted to be able to say this...
Please refer to my website. The GPL Scrapyard's quick guide to VROC
survival can be found at:
http://www.hillclimbfan.f2s.com/vrocguide.html
It's by no means definitive - in fact, some of it is deeply dodgy :) - but
it does have the basics there. Look for the table headed "Learn the Lingo"
near the bottom of the page. (BTW, any further contributions to the table
will be gratefully received.)
Thanks Bob - you've made a not-all-that-old man very happy ;)

Hey all!
After owning GPL since Fall 1998, last week I finally took that first baby
step...and stuck my feeble nose into the Wonderful World of VROC (tm). It's
been awesome! Now, have I won anything? No. I usually just qualify in the
middle, and then try and survive the first lap. After that, I'll do my best
to hang on and Garcia Jr. (a.k.a. - The CART Vulture) my way up through the
field.
I just have one (maybe silly) question. I know some of the lingo for
chatting (PO=Pit Out, PI=Pit in, S=Sorry, GLA = Good Luck All), but there
are a few more I don't quite know what to make of when I see them. Is there
an unofficial chart of VROC Chat Acronyms for Newbies?
Also - is the red text in the upper left the only color it can appear during
a race? I have a really hard time reading if someone apologizes for punting
me (seems to happen a lot) or if 2 others are going at it. Any ideas, or is
that it?
Thanks - so far I'm hooked!

Hi
I'm probably not a newbie, but my results would suggest otherwise.
A lot of the chat you see, in the race is by a programme called gplome, it
lets you set up default phrases for each F key. There may be other
programmes too.
As for the lingo, I asked a similar question and got varied answers. LOL
seemed to be laugh out loud or sarcastically I have seen it "lots of
lotuses."
I will watch your answers with interest
Cheers Martin
The text in the upper left corner appears in red when someone connects or
disconnects (discos) and appears in white when there is chat.
Sid.

What I'd really love someone to come up with is an add-on that you could
attach the keyboard to and which allowed you to speak the letters into,
instead of having to try and type and drive, which always seems to
result in one of those 'getting to know you better' moments with the
local armcos.
