Hello,
This week I bought the ACT-LABS RS wheel. It looked very nice and solid to
me. But after having it installed and calibrated there appeared to be a
problem. In al my games it constantly slams to the left every second, so the
games are absolutely unplayable. The brake pedal seems to have the same
problem although it's not as bad as the slamming to the left in the X-axes.
Could someone please tell me which is the cause of this problem? Does it
have something to do with DirectX7 or other drivers or is it the wheel
itself?
TIA

I have a similar, unresolved problem on my system, but with a basic, non-FF
Thrustmaster Sprint Wheel.
What other hardware do you have? My system is an AMD k6-III 400 on a Soyo
5EHM board (Via chipset), with the wheel plugged in to an Aureal
Vortex1-type soundcard.
Post your system specs and we *may* find a common link!

AMD K6 233 on a Aopen with LX chipset (don't know the exact specs of my
mainboard), my wheel is plugged into a Creative AWE 64 soundcard. I didn't
have any of these problem with the wheel I had before BTW.

In that case, the problems are almost certainly different :-(
I get the same spikes whether I use my wheel or my joystick. The only way
to avoid them is to run the games with my trusty old 12MB voodoo2 card.
Then all is fine. Running with the 32MB TNT2 card gives spikes
everywhere....
For your problem I would check that you have the drivers installed correctly
for the wheel and you have calibrated it properly in the control panel.
Also, ISTR that DirectX7 had some problems with controllers when it was
released and was soon superseded by DX7.0a. You may want to double check
that you have the later version. Of course, there is now DX8 as
well........

Because you mentioned that the brake pedal is somewhat problematic as
well, that says to me that it is a configuration issue (drivers,
versions, compatibility, ect.), not a hardware issue (bad wheel). The
brake pedal has no force-feedback. If you are seeing spikes on your
brake pedal as well as your wheel, it probably has something to do with
the setup. Does it happen in the ACT-Labs configuration program? Have
you tried different games? Have you asked ACT-Labs?
