When you get it, wipe the HD, and use your old 98 CD... On Thu, 16 Nov 2000 16:51:38 GMT, "Chris G." <[email hidden]> wrote:

Look in any newsgroup and you'll find a post about any version of windows having problems or any other product. Newsgroups threads tend to only be about problems. If everything is working right most people don't post about it. I am running WinME just find with no problems. -- Jeff Murchison (Murchman) [email hidden]

Getting a new computer with Windows ME and was wondering if anybody is having any problems with ME and any racing sims and wheels? The main programs will be GPL and SCGT and the wheel will probably be a LWFF. Thanks, Chris G.

No problem with GPL, LWFF and ME here. Chris G. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ugUQ5.247937$[email hidden]...

It's as usual some have problems other don't. The only problem I had when I upgraded to ME was DirectCD. DL'd the latest and everything is fine. ME is very stable on my oc'ed system. P3-700@840, ASUS 6800DL, ACT-LABS RS, SBLive and some other stuff. Kotten "Chris G." <[email hidden]> skrev i meddelandet news:ugUQ5.247937$[email hidden]...

ME is working fine for me. No problems. Had it running for at least a month now. Only 1 time have I had to reboot. (I installed a new HD) NEVER had a lockup or crash yet. On Thu, 16 Nov 2000 16:51:38 GMT, "Chris G." <[email hidden]> wrote:

It's been a god send for me - fast and stable. A few of my friends have had all sorts of problems with ME though - mainly GeForce related. (I've got a TNT2)

WinME is remarkably more stable than Win98* and I have had few, if any, problems with it. YMMV, ~daxe

True, however, Win98 is a much better known OS, and as such support tends to be a lot better. There is still a lot of hardware which does not have ME drivers, and as such, I would wait until everything is better supported. I would like to get my entire network on win2k at the office, but I wouldn't even think about it due to the driver issues encountered. On a side note, I had to set up global roaming for a user, and thought Compuserve would be the easiest. I tried their site - couldn't sign up, tried their support line, and the official line is to use their software which is available on magazine covers everywhere! I finally installed it, but I couldn't sign up over my network ... it required a dialup. I got a machine with a dialup & modem, and installed the software. I couldn't get it to work, so I called Compuserve support only to be told that "Compuserve 2000 for Windows" isn't compatible with "Windows 2000". Talk about fuckwitted. In the end it took 15 minutes with easynet, and it was cheaper too! > I am running WinME just find with no problems. Not everyone will have so few problems, or the knowledge to sort them. Hi Chris, no probs here with ME - LWFF - GPL or any other soft- or hardware. ME's system protection and system restore features are very nice to have, and IMO ME is a decent step forward from Win98 all in all. It's closer to W2K in many aspects (I use both in a double-boot environment). Many of the initial reviews said that this is not the case, but after having used the two together for a while, I tend to think that the reviewers maybe didn't spend too much time looking closely. One suggestion perhaps, when you start the machine for the first time, make sure you are not connected to the Internet (or a large network). It appears that ME, by default tries to map the network at startup, and if you're connected to a large network, that can take forever. I've disabled that feature.
