[OT] A little quiz for the weekend ANSWERS

2 posts by 2 people · 20 Nov 2000 - 20 Nov 2000 13:08 UTC

Here we are, then: 1) Which current competitor in British hillclimbs has beaten Phil Hill in a Grand Prix at the old Nrburgring? A: Tony Marsh (1958) - Marsh 8th (Cooper), Hill 9th (Ferrari). 2) What happened to JJ Lehto's Formula Ford Reynard after he'd finished with it? A: Mika Hakkinen bought it. 3) Johnny Dumfries was worried when he started in FFord that people would get at him if they discovered his noble background. What did he do about it? A: Tried to pass himself off as a painter and decorator. 4) Who entered Jim Clark for his first motorsport event? A: Jock McBain, in an autotest. Clark won it. 5) What was the first F1 GP (excluding Indy) to be won at an average speed of over 120mph? A: Monza 1955, won by Fangio. I was quite surprised by the number of people who e-mailed me with answers for this - so I think further quizzes would be more sensible on my website rather than here. Thanks to all who entered. -- David.
