I was amazed at how good the additionnal customs tracks for GPL are good
and unique. I love Snetterton and Solitude is not too bad either. One
thing that bothers me: how come we don't have as good custom tracks for
N3 as we do for GPL? Aside from Desert Wind, there's not much
originality in the tracks: most of them are actual tracks from N3 edited
with different banking and slightly different graphics. I assume making
oval track is a lot easier that making full fledge road courses, so why
hasn't it been done yet? I would like to order a set of short tracks!

It has been done. http://www.simcyberworld.com/html/tep/index.htm
Sears97 and Sears99 are original tracks not using the preexisting
Papy-tracks. Birmingham, Desert Winds, and Desert Winds Oval, FordTest, and
SkidPad are also original tracks for N3. There is Trenton for N-Legends as
well... all are created from scratch without using Papyrus tracks.
Why dont you see more? Give me something interesting to create and I will...

I have the excellent Sears Point track and Desert Wind road course; I
didn't know that Birmingham, Desert wind oval, FordTest and SkidPad
existed. I have installed San Jose, but it really is just a high banked
Milwaukee mile. I have downloaded Trenton, but haven't tried it yet. But
you do mention that most of those tracks were done using existing
Papyrus tracks. My point is can we create totally new tracks like tracks
in GPL (Snetterton, Solitude, Goodwood were not made from existing GPL
tracks, unless I'm blind).

Even
Sears point was built completely from scratch using no papy code at all
(well, maybe I used the 3do for the porta-potties outside of turn-10). The
tracks listed at TEP (minus the obvious) have one distinct feature about
them... me <VBG> seriously... there were built from scratch just as Noonan
and others have done with Snetterton, Solitude, Goodwood, etc.
This is the way I explain it to others: I suck at editing tracks. Hell, I
couldn't edit an existing TRK file if my life depended on it.... but, when
it comes to creating one from scratch... that is where my passion is.
If you have ideas for new tracks, get me some info on them and send it on
over.

but I havent worked on it for some time. Glen+Boot is an idea still bouncing
back-n-forth in this emtpy skull, but I really have an itch to do Willow
Springs and/or Thunder Hill. Both are Calif. raceways and within driving
distance of me so I can get the correct measurements. That is the big
factor... I really need the actual measurements to make it into something
great. Guessing is for wimps.

How about converting Trenton to GPL for us as well, that would be a
unique challenge in GPL and it's a great track as well, so it would be
a worthy addition to GPL...
Finally, if you really want to make a lot of people happy, how about
creating Bathurst. ?

big Winston Cup cars on that narrow circuit would be a challenge. And
trying to squeeze the wide-body TPTCC road racing cars would REALLY be tight
as you come down off the mountain.
(shh I need to whisper something to Tim...) [mid ohio...mid ohio...MID

Hate to say it, but there is literally no information regarding Mid-Ohio on
the internet. I too would love to build a good version of this track, but I
would need a lot of inofrmation on it... or blueprints :-)

blueprints from the track organization itself, or from the Lexington City
or County land office. The blue prints are a matter of public record,
and paying a small fee for a copy may be worth it. :-)
