Man, guess I'm going to have to get Stan to send me the Bathurst race
tapes...didn't realize the after-race commentary was going to be so
heated! ;]
I have my own opinions of the Aussie drivers, but since I don't get to
see them as much as the 'natives' do, I'll not comment...except to say
that my personal opinion of some of them wasn't too hot. However, I
don't know where you're going to go to watch motorsports, as I can't
think of a single championship where at least one driver doesn't rub me
the wrong way...it's life.
You get the same thing over here...good ole' Geoff (not Geoffry) Bodine
made a few choice comments a few years ago about Jimmmy Spencer, and
Jimmy made a few back. Both of them were out of order, as they had
been beating on each other's fenders for about the 10 previous
laps...then they finally wrecked, and took another car with them.
NASCAR gave'm a 'talking ticket' for their troubles...
Cheers!

Idiotic move. He got a one minute stop start penalty.

I wont be watching anymore V8 Supercar races until the likes of Ingall and
the other drivers that supported his comments are gone. These guys forget
what its like to be a privateer.
It goes back to the debates in this newsgroup in regards to slower drivers
in online races.
the slower driver should hold his racing line and faster driver has to find
a way around. Exactly the same in real life.
I didn't watch much of the Bathurst race. Too pissed off with the likes of
Ingall to enjoy it. But from what I did see, I saw some of the top drivers
do some damn stupid moves. Ask Neal Bates about Greg Crick.

There is a cliqu of top drivers who believe that they should be the only
competitors racing and, if they're not, then to hell with anyone else out
there.
They forget their own upbringings very, very quickly.

From a TV spectator's point of view it was an entertaining, yet frustrating,
day. It was the most disjointed Bathurst race I've watched for years,
primarily because of the weather.
However, the behaviour of some drivers and their over-driving can't be
blamed solely on the weather conditions; an awful lot of these so-called
"professionals" acted as if the event was a 10-lap sprint and drove
accordingly.
Some of them should have had bulldozer blades fitted to the front of their
vehicles so as to shovel the slower, maybe less experienced, drivers off the
track.

Racing is no longer a gentleman's sport. It is about winning and
winning. If you are doing neither, you're not happy. It's sad, but
that's the way it is.

It makes me wonder how some of the drivers would've coped if they were still
racing with all the different classes and makes of car. Thats when to be
a top driver you had to learn to use the slower cars to you're advantage.
I think I'll start following the Production cars more closely in future.

As an oldie I feel that the best Bathurst days were from the mid 1960's
through to the very early 70's..........i.e., from when the Minis and
Cortinas mixed it with Studebaker Larks! :-)
Great days!

Not being as old to remember the 60's, but can remeber the 70's. I used to
love the battle of Brock (6 pot Torana) against Moffat (v8 Ford) Different
strengths and weaknesses of the two cars.
I know what you mean about the Minis. Went to the first Adelaide 500. Loved
the support races Was great watching the Mini's rounding up the larger cars
under brakes, only to be passed on the next straight, then do it all again
under brakes.
Lets bring back production cars for the races. what was the old
saying..."Win on Sunday, sell on Monday"
They were the days..:o)

exclusively the Super Tourers. Heck at first I didn't even know Oz had
another class of racers. The 2.0 litre world seems to be shrinking fast.
How many more seasons can the ATCC and STCC patch those cars
together?
