Yup, I just bought one for about between 170 and 180 delivered. Let's face it: THAT IS A SMOKING DEAL! I can't wait! DavidB

Once you get that Voodoo5 installed, goto http://www.voodoosource.net and check out the tweak guide. Holy moly, I could not believe how much better the road in Nascar Heat looked when moving the detail bias to -1.75 and setting to 800x600 with 4xFSAA -- the apron line looks perfect all the way down the track! After that I used the other suggestions and that prompted me to try out 800x600, 4XFSAA in all my games :-D Let's just say I'm a satisfied customer. Jason. Roger Squires wrote:

I have a celeron 400 running at 400 w/160MB of RAM and 2 12MB v2s in SLI. I've heard that Voodoo5s are fairly cpu dependent. Will the improvement be worth it and will I be able to use 4x FSAA in EAW, WW2F, Mig Alley, CFS2, etc.. or will I need a new CPU as well? Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Although I've never seen FSAA but that makes sense since it would look higher res with it enabled.. and lower res would allow more headroom for 4xFSAA. Now I want one. GeForce or V5?? hmm... Charlie "Jason Monds" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

FSAA, doesn't require more CPU power. Remember when upgrading from a V1 to a V2, you could run GPL in 800x600 without any loss of fps? I consider the V5 to be like that compared with the 2-V2's. To make the V5-5500 the bottle-neck it would take a faster computer but you would get the benefit better looking graphics/more fps in the meantime. For some hard numbers: With my P3-550/192mb/V5-5500 setup, in Nascar Heat with 22 AI cars I get 20-55 fps at 800x600 4xFSAA. I'm definately CPU bottle-necked but it's perfectly drivable because the average is ~30fps. If your into super-fast fps, you could use "fastest performance" mode which Earth2150 tests show ~100 fps for 1280x1024x16bit (I'll have to recheck this) and over 200 for 640x480x16bit. I would consider 800x600 to be the maximum resolution for 4xFSAA. Unfortunately, I don't have the flying sims you mention but if you get ~40fps now in 800x600 mode the V5 will be able to give you ~40fps with 4xFSAA. Jason. [email hidden] wrote:

I ordered the card yesterday at 1pm... and it got here today! They processed the online order and shipped it the same day, and it got here overnight even though I didn't pay for overnight delivery (shipping was free, btw). Now that's some service.
