You can walk round most of the track and you can get very close.
I would reccommend contacting the American YHA and they would tell you how
to book.
Check on the dates of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. This year
(2000) it was the following weekend and it is only a short channel crossing
from Le Mans. It is a definate must see. All the top drivers were there from
every year plus every famous car and they are racing on the hill climb. It
is interesting to compare English style to the French for a motor race.

Goodwood House is not actually a palace, just a big country
house as lived in by the nobility (or rock stars etc. these
days).
