GPLEA releases Crystal Palace track for GPL

Phil Flack of the GPLEA announced the release of the Crystal Palace circuit for GPL. Users praised its quality, details such as team lorries, and its fast, narrow layout, while reporting a black square in the sky with the hi-res version. Requests followed for Oulton Park, Bathurst and Tasman Series tracks.

Hey, thanks Phil! The screen shots look great! Especially the photo of the about to happen head-on. Is a TNT2 Ultra a low fill rate card? I have a p2 400 mhz, TNT2 Ultra, and I'm d/l the low-res version as I write. I guess I could try the hi-res version and see what happens. Thanks again, and also for the Goodwood patch. -- Alastair Ingram www.saxlessons.com "Phil Flack" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Go get it now: > http://www.gplea.org/ > > It even works in software mode! > > Phil (GPLEA)
"Buzz O'Dea" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > for some reason there is no Crystal Palace track available on my GPLEAscreen. In fact, it looks like an old version of the site. Can anybody help? I downloaded it about two hours ago, and the link still works fine. It's under the "race circuits" section once you get into the GPL area. Did you try hitting "refresh"? Maybe you have an old version of the site cached.
I hosted 2 races and joined 1 lastnight after downloading this excellent track. At first I felt like it was too short and too narrow, but after about 20 mins. of practice I had a good idea how to drive this track, and its fast. Its fast paced like monaco. I tried a Moses KY setup there and after changing up the gearing a bit I like it. 51.1 is my blap so far. "Bruce Kennewell" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... Yes. Use your refresh facility as you have probably dredged up the copy held in your cache or the ISP's server cache. -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- Buzz O'Dea <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... for some reason there is no Crystal Palace track available on my GPLEA screen. Beautiful graphics and a really nice track. Anyone else using the hi-res track and seeing a big black square in the sky about 2/3 of the way around the lap. I'm not being critial but wondering if it's my vid card. SB. -- --------------- return e-mail address invalid reply to me in the newsgroup ---------------

Absolutely wonderful :-))) I particularly like the team lorries in the paddock. Good stuff. And is that big building Crystal Palace athletics track? Now, can we *please* have Oulton Park? And if not from you, from somewhere? It's almost getting to the stage where I might start to learn C programming myself... ;-) -- David. Crystal Palce was a great piece of work, thanks guys... Oulton Park would be good, but why hasn't someone made a Bathurst (Mount Panorama) circuit for GPL.. ? Bathurst has everything that a GPL circuit could ever hope or wish for and is one of the best circuits still in current use anywhere in the world.... In about 1968 I went to the annual national schools gymnastics competition at Crystal Palace with my school team. I had little interest in motor racing at the time and had no idea there was a circuit there. However, I remember the teacher telling us that the indoor sports facilities were the most up-to-the-minute in the UK at the time. I have a vague recollection of arriving on the bus and being impressed by how big and modern the building looked. I reckon that the large building you can see from the circuit must be the "new" gym. A little later, in 1971, when I started avidly reading race reports in Motorcycle News I couldn't understand how they managed to hold meetings at Crystal Palace and for a while I thought the name must be a coincidence. The urban location and general appearance of the place made it an unlikely venue for motor racing. -- Mark Croasdale ICQ 21549408 David Buttery <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Absolutely wonderful :-))) > > I particularly like the team lorries in the paddock. Very good work. My only problem is that there are walls blocking my preferred racing line;) Chris -- Simbok Racing www.geocities.com/simbokza Uwe Schuerkamp <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <Q6DT5.225$[email hidden]>, > Morgan V. Bathurst would be a good choice for GPL, that is a fantastic circuit. I don't think we have an Aussie circuit in GPL yet? Wasn't Phillip Island going in the 60's? Didn't Fred Astaire win a race there in On The Beach? Was it the same track? In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says... > Bathurst would be a good choice for GPL, that is a fantastic circuit. Bathurst would be great, especially that Mount Panorama section - not sure if it was used in the 60's but that doesn't necessarily matter. - Michael

Bathurst dates back to the 1930's.

That's good - has the configuration changed over the years? Did Formula 1 cars or open wheel cars ever race there? - Michael

The only change made in all that time was the addition of the chase at the end of Conrod straight in recent times to slow the cars down. Open wheel cars have raced there. The Australian Grand Prix was held there in 1938, 1947, 1952 and 1958. The field in 1958 included Ferraris, Mazeratis and Coopers. Prior to the Adelaide Grand Prix the Aust Grand Prix was not part of the fomula one world championship. Jeff
