Can you only buy the Act Labs RS from Act Labs direct or is it available somewhere in Canada too? I want to avoid duty, poor exchange rate and shipping costs. Thx.

I have an actlabs rs wheel and I don't care for it. I Like the wheel and Pedals, but just don't care for how loose (sloppy) the wheel feels. I would try an actlabs force with shifter but at 189$u.s. that's like a million Canadian dollars, and the misses would go nuts. Is there that much of a difference from the force rs to the plan rs wheel as far as turning radius goes. It just seems like I have to turn the wheel too far before anything happens on the screen. I have tried adjusting steering lock and all the stuff. Amp <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Probably because the US dollar is a lot more universal than the sorry old loonie. Just checked their website, they are in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver. Although they have a depot for shipping just across the line in Washington. I would be surprised if there wasn't a way for them to ship to you from Canada. Their customer service has always been first rate. eejit
Did you know there is a Vancouver BC just across the northern border of Washington State...and....a Vancouver USA at the extreme southern border of Washington State? this little bit of trivia brought to you by... deh

Clamping System?? The best I have seen... ever! There are two wheelietypescrews on either side of the steering base. The wheels tighten metal clamps (high quality) which holds it VERY solid to my desk (and I am very picky about this). You will not be dissapointed :) Jeff > > OK, thx. Hello, We have three official fulfillment houses. One each in Canada, USA, and EU. For Canadian orders, we ship from Canada so that our Canadian customers do not have to pay duty. We bill in USD for numerous reasons. One of the reasons is that 90% of our business comes from the US. If we were to have multiple currencies on our web site, there would be a lot of unnecessary confusion. How many sites do you see with more than one currency listed? Also, all our parts are purchased in USD. Charging the same allows us to have a constant. If we were to start charging in more than one currency, our operation costs would go up. What do you think would happen to the price then? You got it. Ultimately, this is cheaper for all our customers. I don't see how billing in USD makes us "traitors." If we charged you in CAD instead of USD, we would have to charge at a certain exchange rate, correct? The rate we would get would likely be higher than what you could get from your credit card company. Ultimately, the exchange rate has to be done somewhere. There really is not difference whether we do it or your credit card company does it because you would end up paying the same price at the end of the day. Certainly, we couldn't charge you at par. :) Raymond ACT LABS www.act-labs.com On Fri, 24 Nov 2000 17:08:21 GMT, [email hidden] (Amp) wrote: >Can you only buy the Act Labs RS from Act Labs direct or is it >available somewhere in Canada too? My comment about traitors was just a joke. Quite often the U.S. pays less on U.S. products than what we in Canada pay for the same product. I was hoping it would be the same for Canadians buying Canadian products.

Hello, Firstly correct me if I'm wrong but several years ago NAFTA removed all duty on computer parts, so I can't see that as a reason for shipping from Canada. The fact that you manufacture here would be a good reason for shipping from here. The fact that you manufacture here and pay rent on your building in Canadian dollars, salaries in Canadian dollars, property tax in Canadian dollars ( assuming you're not subsidized by our Canadian tax dollars), and buy some manufacturing goods from the U.S. like a large number of manufacturers in this country (who charge me in Canadian dollars when I purchase from them) is no reason to charge me in U.S. dollars. You're putting an exchange rate on all of the cost of manufacturing rather than the small percentage that is actually in U.S. dollars. When you go to purchase something at the local retailer does the price fluctuate on a daily basis? Why do you charge in U.S. dollars for shipping when you ship from Canada, in Canada to Canada using a Canadian shipper? I recently purchased something that was advertised on the Net by a retailer in Kitchener, when I called them they quoted me a different price in Canadian dollars which was much much lower than the U.S. price they had quoted on the Net. I think there is a bit of a disconnect there Raymond. If you charged your Canadian customers in Cdn. dollars, then they would not suffer from currency exchange, either from you or their credit card company. $100 Canadian is always $100 Canadian, regardless of other currencies. In that circumstance, it would be Act Labs that would suffer if the Cdn. dollar moved relative to other currencies. As it is, by charging in U.S. dollars the price of your products to Canadian customers changes on a daily basis. So to me the thrust of your post is the Cdn. customer suffers, not Act Labs. Just my Cdn.$0.02 (considerably less in U.S. dollars). Timothy Moran

Yea, really. Why should CDN customers pay a fluctuating price on a CDN product Raymond?
