Nice one, Rob. Looks like I'll be overtaken by yet another person before
very long (unless my bloody new wheel turns up soon...)

OK, I know you're all tired of this, and I promised myself I wouldn't do it
if I ever got a negative GPL Rank, but I have to brag to somebody, I'm just
so PUMPED! I just went negative (-3.18!!!) in GPLRank, with an amazing Ring
lap.
I did 2 straight 8:30's, with a few mistakes on each, then this GREAT clean
lap. One screwup right at the end, and I was thinking maybe 8:25 or so. But
NO, 8:22.60!!!
Ok, so now all my goals in life are complete, I can die happy (kidding).
Now I have to go jump up and down in front of my wite, who won't really get
it... <g>
Well, now you've joined the ranks of Gore and Bush, who both "went negative"
for the first time a few months ago (and are still there). 8-)
Seriously, though -- Congratulations. I can only dream.....

Damm, someone else who's beaten to getting negative. Well done Rob.
I'll just have to practice more (only 17 seconds to go)

Some Call Me Tim
I just checked GPLRank and, like virtually everybody else, you're faster
than me at $#)(*$# Silverstone.
Has anybody done a Silverstone graphics update to add brake markers? I think
I brake at a different time for the same corner every lap.
Also, I forgot to give credit in my opening post to the "track guide" that
finally helped my Ring times:
http://www.turkeyshoot.demon.co.uk/ring/ring.htm
Highly recommended (and a fun read).

Wow - I just printed that off Wednesday, but I haven't had a chance to practice
yet...
So what was your previous PB before reading this? I'm just trying to get an
idea of how much it helped you...

Yesterday I read this track guide and that night I got my 8:22. I don't
think there's any direct correlation - I'd been on pace for 8:2x for quite a
while but would always screw up at least once and throw the lap away. Last
night was two 8:30's followed by the 8:22 so I was in a good groove.
The 8:22 lap (I LOVE saying that!) was just a case of everything finally
coming together. The track guide was more an inspiration to try again, and a
reminder that this is supposed to be fun :)
I'm going to email Ken MacKay the replay tonight, do you want me to cc it to
you too Eldred?

Oh, how I would LOVE to see that! Maybe I could run under 1:29.7 with that....

Not quite negative yet, but watching Rob's lap something clicked and I was
finally able to carry enough speed through the Nordschleife to end up with a
sub-8m30s time.
8m29.79s and then 8m27.95s make I can finally show my face in polite society
again. Not to mention what the 13 odd seconds off my previous effort has
done for my GPLRank. ;-)
Thanks Rob,
Jan.

how my PB progression was. 8:29.93, then 8:27 something, then 8:22.
Hopefully it works the same for you!
