I got NHRA2, and came into it open minded, but after playing it, come out
very dissapointed. Its that unrealistic i cannot believe... the car is that
responsive to steering at the end of the strip that you can just about do a
U Turn. When you crash, as soon as your car hits the walls it stops dead...
Sounds are crap, sounds like some messed up noise when it idles and sounds
crap when its accelerating, which sounds like its always at max revs....
Looks like IHRA is going to be awesome though :)
Thanks

Altho the graphics look killer in this game, I noticed the extremely long load
times
for the graphics. Geez it takes forever for each race. It has to reload
graphics
all over again before each race. Im in a 850mhz system so speed on my end is
not the problem

Me, neither. Not nearly as long as the first NHRA. (C2/566@876, 384M
ram V3/3000AGP)
I did notice that it still wants me to use a button for the brake and
gas, though. (LWFF, non-GP)
The sound is pretty accurate and sounds nice if you TURN IT UP.

In NHRA2, we model Top Fuel cars where the clutch slippage is
designed and tuned to keep the cars near max RPM until
the later stages of the clutch locking up. (Assuming everything
works as planned. If you smoke the tires, the RPM won't be
optimal and might get dangerously high if you don't pedal the throttle.)
In the game you should hear the RPM staying near max for the first
couple seconds then drop down to match the wheel speed as the
clutch locks up then trend back upward in RPM again as the
car continues to accelerate at 1:1 engine to drive speed.
(You may have been thinking of Pro Stock cars that accelerate
more conventionally.)
You can review the engine RPM, drive shaft RPM
and the ratio between them in the RacePak
telemetry for each run.

I have only a 450 mhz system, and between rounds, the game loads within 4
seconds. Did you do a full install??

There's a basic problem with drag racing sims in that what the sims
simulate -- racing down the quarter mile -- is actually a very tiny portion
of what goes on at a drag meet. I used to own, wrench, and drive an injected
nitro dragster (A/FD) many years ago. At a major event, out of a 10-hour or
longer day, we would be lucky to make maybe 4-5 runs down the track! Most of
the time in drag racing is spent working on the car; talking to competitors,
sponsors, suppliers, fans and friends; waiting for your class to be called;
waiting in the staging lanes; etc., etc. Really, the couple of minutes that
it takes for your entire run is not a big part of it from a time-spent
standpoint.
So, a sim that concentrates only on what lies at the end of many hours of
work -- starting, burnout, stage, and run -- is ultimately going to get
boring in a hurry. I haven't seen NHRA-2, but I did find NHRA-1 to be
reasonably realistic in the feel of driving a dragster down the track. But,
after a couple of dozen runs, I was ready to put the game back on the shelf.
In real life, a couple of dozen passes is something that I would have done
only over the space of a month or more! When I lined up to make a run, it
was a really big deal since I knew that this was my one chance to qualify,
or it would be another hour's wait; with the sim it is just one run after
another.
OTOH, nobody is going to buy a game that makes you wait an hour between
races :-), and all sims tend to compress time to some extent. It is just
that there it so much more to drag racing than what can be simulated that
this sim ends up running out of fuel in short order.
