F1 2000 CS review

It sounds to me like the work on F1CS2K represents far more than a simple update to F1 2000. As much as I hate to have to spend more money on yet another F1 sim, I have already ordered F1CS2K just to get the Driving School mode, which sounds like it's going to be a blast. This alone obviously represents much more than a simple "upgrade." Ditto the improved AI. Ditto the revised graphics engine. Ditto the updated tracks (Monza and Spa). Ditto the weather effects. Do I need to go on, or can we put this "F12K update" issue to rest? -- JB In article <[email hidden]>, default wrote: > On Wed, 29 Nov 2000 01:20:04 GMT, Andre Warringa <[email hidden]> > wrote: > > >There's a review here: > >http://www.gamesdomain.co.uk/gdreview/zones/reviews/pc/nov00/f12000cs.html > > > >Seems to be a GP3 beater (not that GP3 would be hard to beat ;) only > >really disappointing thing to read is that the weather is notdynamic.

It's as much an update as GP3 was to GP2. "teehole" <holysmokes!@spammy.net> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Maybe, but it did not take 4 years, did not have inherent flaws that went unfixed (like GP2's slomo, and one car sound). Plus it has the current season. I certainly see no reason NOT to get it. The review didn't mention if the FF was fixed or not, and it would certainly be bad if it wasn't fixed. -- [email hidden] "Harjan Brand" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:6j5V5.2311$[email hidden]... > It's as much an update as GP3 was to GP2. > > "teehole" <holysmokes!@spammy.net> wrote in message > news:[email hidden]... > > On Wed, 29 Nov 2000 01:20:04 GMT, Andre Warringa <[email hidden]> > > wrote: > > > > >There's a review here: > > > >http://www.gamesdomain.co.uk/gdreview/zones/reviews/pc/nov00/f12000cs.html > > > > > >Seems to be a GP3 beater (not that GP3 would be hard to beat ;) only > > >really disappointing thing to read is that the weather is not dynamic. > > > > Wonder where we all send in our $5.00, to get an F12k update disk?? > > <g>. > > > > Matt > > > >

Have you *tried* playing GP2 after GP3? When F1CS arrives, try switching back to F1 2000. I might be wrong here (and I so much hope I am), but apart from some fine tuning I doubt there would be much of a difference. I'm still considering buying it, but only after I hear reports that some handling stuff was/can be corrected. I mean, the tyres and springs in F1 2000 felt as flexible as those on a Renault 4 I once drove (if you have a chance, try that, it's great fun, as so much body lean is hard to believe or comprehend!), and the engine seemed to be connected to a flywheel the size of a truck tire. What was even more sad was that these things were tweakable by a simple text editor, but doing so made the physics engine unstable, or the AI unable to drive the cars. So unless I hear such changes are in place or are at least possible to be corrected without consequences, I'm willing to consider it. A better Eau Rouge, car reflections in the wet, or even the improved AI just won't be enough for me to buy F1 2000 again. -Gregor
