From the readme. ________________________________________________ 3D COMPATIBILITY This pre-Alpha technology demo has had limited testing on the following video cards: 3dfx Voodoo2, Voodoo3, Voodoo5: Currently OpenGL does not work, Direct3D should be used. _________________________________________________ I think the sound you refer to is the govenor kicking in. Funny in Win2k OpenGL does work great with the Voodoo3 but my joystick doesnt. So again I must dual boot :/ Mitch "Luk3D COMPATIBILITY This pre-Alpha technology demo has had limited testing on the following video cards: 3dfx Voodoo2, Voodoo3, Voodoo5: Currently OpenGL does not work, Direct3D should be used.e Phillips" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3a2589d6$0$19435$[email hidden]... I've got a few problems with n4. First problem is that it doesnt let me select openGL, just crashes. I have a voodoo3 running latest drivers with dx8 on win98. The other problem is the sound.. there is none. It just stutters a bit, and when your at high revs, the "noise" that it makes just gets louder with more thorttle.. Any suggestions? Thanks Luke -=87=-

That explains the opengl prob. The sound is f*ucked :). At 3000rpm it sounds like the sound is running at .1fps, then around 5000 u just hear a weird noise that gets louder with the more thorttle u use, its only the engine sounds tho, all other sounds work tip top.. Same here... using SB16 value with drivers from god knows when though, I'll try upgrading them and see what gives. Got problems in Direct3D with my 2xV2 SLI setup too (dx7a reference drivers), some bits of scenery are solid cyan or magenta instead of having texture applied to them... spookily it gets worse in 640x480x16 than 800x600x16. Haven't attempted 1024x768 yet. Two things though... what's that asterix supposed to replace?<g> -And could you stop using html to post please... messes up the newsreader no end. Yup, no luck on the sound front... I have game port disabled in favour of my PDPI L4, no controller problems whatsoever (analog pedals via L4 and LWFF via USB). Moving up to 1024x768 cured the texturing problems on the scenery. Car now horribly corrupt though. Still... it feels absolutely wonderfull. I can imagine myself investing in some new hardware to get this to work. How about a beta-level demo Papy guys? <g> Jan. =--- Luke Phillips wrote...

I just bought a Turtle Beach A3D sound card for $35 to see if it fixes the problem for me. I use an SB Live - well I did. I'll get back to you... --David Cook In article <[email hidden]>, jan.no- [email hidden] wrote...

The README specifically says that openGL doesn't work for voodoo cards, yet. Use Direct3D. >I've got a few problems with n4. First problem is that it doesnt let me = >select openGL, just crashes. I have a voodoo3 running latest drivers = >with dx8 on win98. Chris P [email hidden]
I think you can use OGL with Voodoo cards you just have to make sure your desktop graphics are the same as your 3d settings IE 800X600 X 16bit when you start N4 "CPDRKITEKT" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > The README specifically says that openGL doesn't work for voodoo cards, yet.
