Decent Graphics...Love the smoke and the skidmarks Good physics (gpl? can't go wrong copying those) Multiplayer, who knows? Haven't found a game yet. Sound? It sucks like Linda Lovelace crossed with a Hoover.

I'm not really a NASCAR fan by any means. I have NASCAR Heat and it's fun...I'm serious about GPL and I'm 4 races into a full length season in F12K. So I downloaded the NASCAR 4 demo and I've already uninstalled it. Why...? -Texture corruption in the stands, bad at 800x600, worse at 640x480. System: Celeron 533 128 Meg 2 - Voodoo 2s, SLI mode VIA mobo -That pull to the left thing...is that realistic? -The cockpit view...I can't really see much, Where's the rest of the windshield? -The sound. Maybe I'm just addicted to the gloriously hellacious racket in GPL, F12K doesn't sound that great either, but I've replaced the sounds in it with something a little beefier I downloaded from somewhere... So for now, if I want to drive in circles in an American car, it's NASCAR Heat for me. J. P. 2 Voodoos.. I think as time marches on, we will see fewer sims that work properly with the good ol V2's. Your onboard texture ram is just not up to snuff. > -That pull to the left thing...is that realistic? YES! 1)Your car is on a tilted surface 2) and to enhance the turning ability, the outside tires are larger than the inside...add other factors in the setup and you have a car that WANTS to drop off the track. (hey we have been screaming for MORE realism for years...now that we have it...folks are upset) > -The cockpit view...I can't really see much, Where's the rest of the > windshield? I agree the view is slightly constrained, especially when compared to previous sims...However, since I started out with Center views like ICR1&2 and World Circut, even the slightly cutoff view from N2 &3 seemed 'wrong' at first, but I quickly became used to it. I don't think it will post too much of a problem after a few dozen laps at each track.

Nascar heat is a fine program. (except for the AI during cautions and pitstops and the poor league type reporting of race results..((we need savable text files folks)) I am hoping some ingenious type figures out the track format and adds some more road courses to Heat's stable. > J. Voodoo2? I think they use those in calculators now. Try updating to a card released in the last couple of years hehe. "Support" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

OK, I concur. I've been thinking about a GEForce anyway...

I'm not upset...I just don't know enough about NASCAR. If it's realistic, then I applaud Papyrus for once again pushing the envelope in the realm of sim physics.

OK, maybe...but since I'm not a "serious" NASCAR simmer, I -enjoy- the view in NH more. However, if realism is our touchstone here, is there anyone in the group who's driven one of these things that can comment on the realism of the view in N4?

We -seem- to have a concensus here...

If they actually placed the view where the drivers head would really be we'd see even less I assure you. We don't have eyeballs in a sim, we can't see things in the corner of our eye, etc etc :-) -- [email hidden] www.legendscentral.com "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:VXwV5.98565$[email hidden]... > > "Support" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:[email hidden]... > > I'm not really a NASCAR fan by any means. It's the only thing I have been able to find wrong with the sim.... that includes the sound. The sound isn't great... but sounds pretty accurate when you're head is in a helmet (just louder than the wife will let me go with the computer speakers LOL) I hope they increase the field of vision. I'm 6'4" and maybe for a shorter person, that's the view they see. I personally had a much better field of vision because I was much higher than the dash. The dash seems too high without enough windshield in the sim. -- Take care, Dave Boothe ***************************************************** Edward Jones Investments #37 Ford Taurus Proud member of Ground Zero Motorsports http://www.geocities.com/groundzeroms2000 The Pro Series http://www.theproseries.com OSCAR http://www.awtech.net/oscar/

On my Voodoo3 2000 it was a matter of updating to the latest drivers from http:\\www.3dfx.com to cure the funky colors and texture problems. just fyi

The man said SLI'd Voodoo2's, not a Voodoo3 card. Probably before your time... ;-) Seriously, it's not the drivers... I'm running the most recent ones (for the V2) on a similar setup and it doesn't help. Don't suggest DX8 either, 'cos those users are experiencing the same problems. Time just seems to have passed us bye. Maybe Papy is realistically modelling the view that Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, and Ward Burton have in the cockpit? ;-) I'm only 5'8", so I'm guessing the view would be pretty close to what I would see if I were in a WC car. Does seem a bit too constrained for racing on the computer though. Only time will tell on whether or not we'll get use to it. Dave Ericson "MomoBoy" JDB Racing David Boothe wrote:

You'll get used to it. Similar comments, in this case regrding the 'letterbox' screen, were flying around when the GPL demo was released. -- Regards, Bruce Kennewell, Canberra, Australia. --------------------------- David R. Me, I loved that! Reminded me of watching Grand Prix (the movie) on TV... J. P. Hovercraft ---------- Bruce Kennewell wrote:
