Calibrating in Nascar4

10 posts by 10 people · 30 Nov 2000 - 02 Dec 2000 22:32 UTC

I've been trying for the last 2 hours to calibrate my MSFF wheel, but no matter what I try, I can't get the steering wheel to center correctly. The Wheel continually needs to be turned towards the outside wall of both tracks inorder to get the car to track straight. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix for the problem ? I have found that tweaking your camber and caster settings a bit helped a great deal with the pull. Read the pop-ups for adjustments they explain it well.. Also a slight reduction in the steering ratio helped reduce the amount of turn toward the wall needed to keep the car straight. This worked for me anyway. Dave T. Joel, Try adjusting linear setting. Dont forget its the reverse of GPL. Try it to the far right. Joel A. It's not a problem with your wheel, silly, that's how the car handles... "Joel A. Willstein" wrote:

The right hand side wheels are bigger than the left hand side wheels. It's called "stagger" and makes a car that's designed to go round and round in circles, go round and round in circles a bit fast. The down side is that it still wants to go round and round in circles when you go down the straights, thus you have to compensate for this by turning toward the wall a bit!!! Yea, but in N4 it's a lot, not a bit. NH is a bit.
Actually, if you put a huge amount of camber in the front wheels, you can make a GPL car pull right on the straights. (I think...going to drive Talle in GPL to make sure...) Then he was given a setup that drove straight, but then it went really undrivable in the turns. So he wanted the staggered setup back :)

This question reminds me of when GPL first came out and a guy asked why his steering wheel lost calibration when he hit the wall real hard. They are all just cool realistic effects. JB "Joel A. I solved it by going to the control panel in windows and calibrating my wheel then calbritating my wheel in Nascar. Burner
