Now that we have a GPL-based Nascar sim, can a GPLRank-based N4 service be
far behind?
If Papy does not release any demo replays to use as the benchmark, then
maybe we mortals can be rated against the current year's qualifying times in
RL at the tracks.
Or for those who scoff at only turning left, maybe just rank the two road
courses - that would also satisfy those folks who complain they don't have
time to get a good hot lap of the 'Ring. <g>

You'll see ranking even if papy doesn't implement it. Check out
www.raceserver.net for N3 rankings.

I think Nascar isn't about hotlapping. The differences are just too small.
Nascar is all about racing, so I just don't think a N4Rank could work,
unless it was based on the race results.....

There is a big difference between the GPL and N4 community. The N4 is much
more mainstream then the very hardcore and gentlemanship one that is racing
GPL. It would be impossible to keep any kind of realistic approach to a
fastlap system without thousands of people falsifying their laptimes.
We keep fait with GPLrank on everybody else's rank. We trust they are true,
because of the few of us. It's a Gentlemen's rank.
Ranking systems back in the days of N1, N2, NR99, N3 failed miserably each
time. You had programs yet people were able to cheat around it, etc...
Basically it's bloody hell, with kids/lamers/teens/keyboard drivers who's
only purpose is to be first at any attemps, legally or not.
The only way is to do so is via the servers you race on, like raceserver.net
