Jay,
I have all three -- F1 2000, GP3, and F1CS2K -- and I definitely think
that F1CS2K is the best of the three. Read my review on the BHMS site
if you haven't done so already, as it pretty much sums up my views on
this one. The AI now shines, IMO, and that really sets F1CS2K apart
from the rest.

Before you buy.
F1 Championship Season 2000 compared with GP3
Jay J asked owners of both games to compare F1 Championship Season 2000 with Grand Prix 3. Most respondents preferred F1CS2K, citing improved AI, framerates, the driving school and fixed tracks, while noting its force feedback remained weak. Others explained that F1CS was a substantially updated version of F1 2000.
Automated summary.
I would imagine most everything runs pretty smooth on that thing Howie...
sheesh!! ;-)

Bear in mind that I'm a casual driver (wife and two kids and all), but I
will say that I installed F1WC2K last night, and uninstalled GP3 this
morning. I'll leave it to the purists here to haggle over the driving
model, physics, etc. I just flat out found it more fun, immersive, and
yes, graphically pleasing. I never drove F12K, so I can't compare it to
that.

Anyone out there with both F12k CS and GP3 who could give me an honest
comparison?
Thanks!

GP3 has been in a box on a shelf for a while. I was never happy with it. I
liked F12K better.
F12KCS is just amazing. The drivers school is a very neat addition, and the
changes to the tracks and various signage and such is very welcome. And JV
decided to join the party! Spa is great, and Monza is now correct. Though, I
can now see why there was carnage there this year - who thought of funneling
all those cars through a space that small at the start?
I run it on a P3-700, 256 RAM and a Herc. Pro. GeForce2, using a LWFF. I run
it with everything at max res, everything turned on. I get a slight slowdown
at the start, but once there are only 5 or so cars in sight it's very fast,
very smooth.
The new sounds are great! I wish the weather was dynamic like GP3 -
Hockenheim this year was a great example of how weather should be. Rain
could be on one side, dry on the other.
Force Feedback is very feeble - first thing I noticed. Otherwise, I'm very
happy with it.
GP3 has nothing on F12KS. I'd sell you my GP3! CHEAP!

But you need the FF spring tension turned on.

I still run F12k, but still have 3 (real) problems with it:
1.) Warm-up lap, everything gets screwed up, cars backed-up and slow
(28mph...), can't get to start positions, cars waiting -at-
start-posistion roll down the track(!), bump into the car in front of
them.
2.) -Horrendous- graphical-hit on race starts. After that frame-rate
is fine, but it takes lots of power to run F12k (have a Cel@900 and
Voodoo-3).
3.) First 60 seconds of any race, the A/I is =super= aggressive (crazy
bastards!).
4. Front tires bounce up-and-down like basketballs (not a big problem
but it looks silly).
Were all these things addressed and fixed in the CS version?
Also, any chance this thing would work with 5/10 multiplayer drivers?
Oh yeah, is there anything removed that was in the original F12k
(anything removed that was useful?).
Thanks much, Matt
Did EA fix the helmet size thing from F12K?

Haven't tried it with a warm-up lap, but the AI is much better now and
is adjustable from within the game so it should be ok now.

Fixed in CS.

Fixed in CS.As I said above, AI aggressiveness is now adjustable.

Looks the same to me, but never had a problem with it before.

Don't know about MP, haven't tried it yet.

Yes! They removed the babes from the GUI and the music is not as good
as before either. :-(

Doesn't help much Greg, ff is still quite bad in F1CS (just as it was
in F12K). Deadzone problem is fixed though, see the other thread about
that problem.
The ff of HEAT was improved greaty by Slot, here's hoping that someone
will be able to improve the ff of F1CS.

Bummer. I was really hoping they would have fixed the FF. I guess if
it is no worse than F1 2000 then it is OK. But the fact that weather is
added, better AI and a much improved framerate means that I will
get the game :-)

Before you buy.
F1CS2K is an update in that it builds upon the F1 2000 base, but it's
an all-new game in many respects, and it's actually FAR superior to F1
2000 in virtually every way.
Go here for a good look at what it's all about:

Enjoy!

Both actually... it IS an update, but it's such a good one that it
allmost makes it a brand new game :)
F1CS2000 is as F1 2000 should have been.

The
FF will work properly in both with no
centering force. In the original
release of F12K, you had to have
centering force enabled to get good
FF.
