I don't have a fix or something, but you might want to ask this on the
official MBTR message board, where the developers regularly post.
Although most people there talk German, you will get an answer to

Hi guys I have the full version of MBTR and im trying to get it going
with my USB MS Wheel, under the options menu I cannot select anything
other than Keyboard on the top menu and Keyboard/gamepad on the menu
below that. My MS wheel is setup under Win ME and works in all the
other car racing sims I have, however if I unplug the USB wheel and
put my Thustmaster joystick on (FLCS/RCS/TQS) and set it up as a 3
axis 2 button joystick with rudder peddels im able to select this
option in the controllers in MBTR. So this suggest to me that MBTR
does not support USB controllers which I find strange.
I also downloaded the latest MBTR demo to see if my wheel worked in
that same thing it doesnt but my joystick does. Any help would be
great thanks.
BTW everything else in this game rocks and its great fun racing these
big rigs.
