Sim Racing Benchmark Project Proposal

Bruce, have you lost your powers of deductive reasoning, or are you just being grumpy? The subject says that there is a proposal for a sim racing benchmark project. Obviously, the link is to the aforementioned proposal. However, a "please" would have been nice :-) By the way, John, good idea, but raw framerates is just part of the whole story (a big part, of course). The visual quality can vary quite a bit between boards. Stephen Bruce Kennewell <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3a2cd966$[email hidden]...

Oops -- my bad! Add "If you might be interested in something like this, then please . . . " to my previous post! <G> What I envision is something of an "overclocker's archive" sort of thing, with an emphasis solely on driving sims. I frankly don't care how well a card performs in Quake 3 with a given CPU, for example, but I wouldn't mind seeing what type of performance people are getting in sim-related games (that I can relate to) with certain CPU and video card combinations. The article that used the MBTR demo was informative and inspiring, but not really all-inclusive -- for example, the Radeon card had problems with tearing and such in MBTR, but I haven't seen any follow-ups about whether newer Radeon drivers have solved this problem, and I also have no idea how the Radeon performs with OTHER sims (like NASCAR Heat or Viper Racing, for example). Visual quality IS something to consider as well, but I'd settle for some quantitative data to begin with. -- JB In article <3a2ce0a2$[email hidden]>, "Stephen Ferguson" <[email hidden]> wrote: > Bruce, have you lost your powers of deductive reasoning, or are youjust > being grumpy?
