I've never been sure about Amon. I was going by Bruce Jones' "Complete
Encyclopedia of Formula One", which doesn't mention him. I think you win
this week's smart-alec prize, though... :-)

As usual, these are delayed. Bloody hard disk crash (the damn thing was
only 3 months old, for heaven's sake!) Anyhow...
1) How many cars took to the grid for the 1967 French GP at "Le Mans"?
A: FIFTEEN (Brabham won from Hulme).
2) Who were the four founders of March?
A: MAX MOSLEY, ALAN REES, GRAHAM COAKER AND ROBIN HERD.
3) Hard one now - who did Elio de Angelis beat to the 1977 Italian F3
title?
A: PIERCARLO GHINZANI (WHAT A DRIVER...).
4) What was Wolfgang von Trips' first major title?
A: GERMAN GTs, 1954.
5) Which is the only F1 GP to have been *deliberately* (as opposed to
because of pile-ups etc) held over two heats?
A: AVUS, 1959 (WON BY BROOKS FROM GURNEY).
BONUS QUESTION: What *was* Bernie doing all those "missing years"? (And you
can damn well pay your own libel bills... :-) )
A: BLIMEY, WHAT A FEEBLE RESPONSE I HAD TO THIS ONE. HAVE NONE OF YOU READ
"BERNIE'S GAME", THEN? WELL, NO, OBVIOUSLY, BUT THERE YOU ARE... ;-)

Some say that Chris Amon is the A in March. Or whould Alan Rees have 2

David,
In re: Q2, March took so long to get going that the joke at the time was
that it was an acronym for Much Advertised Racing Car Hoax.
I've got one for you: What was the Jigger Sirois Award?
P.S. Love the Raymond Mays quote!

Heh. Now make one out of Andrea Moda (as if you need to!)
>I've got one for you: What was the Jigger Sirois Award?
Was? As far as I'm aware it still *is* given by the American Auto Racing
Writers & Broadcasters Association (who, I notice, don't make their
directory publicly available - I'll stick to Autosport's) to the driver,
organisation etc who has the greatest "hard-luck" story at Indy, Roberto
Guerrero being the most recent recipient.
That good enough for you?
>P.S. Love the Raymond Mays quote!
It's (as you may know) from his foreword to C.A.N. May's classic 1946 book,
"Shelsley Walsh" (that title must have taken ages to think up) - my copy's
not in a very good state, but I still treasure it.

You win the race, prize, trophy, and retire the championship. A tip of the
Hatlo hat to you!

Well, not all my own work to be honest. Mr Google had quite a hand in it...
