Just reinstall Win ME, all your programs will stay intalled but it will go
back to the origional DX.

It might not be, but if not it is a strange coincidence. I was capturing
video (up to 2hrs) fine with Win 98 and then Win ME using DX7a. I installed
DX8 a few weeks ago and didn't try to capture anything for a week or so
after that.
About a week ago I tried to capture a music video and since then I have been
in a constant state of despair and frustration as whatever version of the
manufacturers software or anybody elses software I use I can't seem to get
the audio and video to sync.
I noticed someone else (in a forum at http://www.vcdhelp.com ) also noticed
a problem after they upgraded to DX8 so i presumed it must be that?
Let me know if you find a solution for your problem.

Not for Win ME. Well that rules out that!
Thanks anyway!

Since I upgraded to DirectX 8, I have been able to capture video properly.
The audio for some reason is now out of sync when i capture, before DX8 it
was perfectly OK! At least one other person seems to have had the same
problem from what I have read on other message boards.

Remove _your_clothes before replying
Could somebody remind me what program is necessary to go back to an older
version of DirectX and where I could possibly download it from, I will then
be able to confirm my suspicion.
Thanks

Are you sure this is DX8 related? I bought a tv-card a month ago, and
on my pc audio is also quite out of sync (about 3 seconds!).
I'm using DX7a..

You probably reinstalled WinME from within WinME, then it keeps DX8.
When I reinstall Windows, I start the computer with a bootdisk, delete
the whole Windows map, and do a clean Windows install.
Bad side is that you have to re-install all your Windows applications,
but it's the best method for a 100% clean installation.
