After playing IHRA Drag Racing for a while, I have come back somewhat dissapointed. Here is what i notcied The Good Bits ---------------- *Menu system was very user friendly *Cars look nice, especially with enviornment mapping on *Pro Mod cars are even better *The new cars are geat! *Any changes such as suspension, wings, wheel sizes and wheelie bars are physically seen on the car *Good variety of cars to choose from *Turbo, Superchagers, Nitrous *You could specify what % of nitro u wanted to run *Graphics look alot better *The garage was changed to be more user friendly, and is! The Not So Good Stuff ------------------------- *Framerate with full details and 800x600 was around 10-15fps with no other cars on the track. With 640x480 and EVERYTHING turned off, it hardly made any improvemnts, any of which were blown away when i raced with another car and my already bad framerate just about halved! *The menu has an option for skid marks, but i never saw any, and didnt change anything when i turned it off *I couldnt find the paint shop *Only the Tacho and Speedo work.. the rest of the guages stay on zero. *Some cars were missing textures off their engines and exhausts *Some cars looked like they werent finished *Game seemed VERY beta like *Physics seemed toned down *There is hardly a problem for traction. Get a standard car with HP steet tyres, add a 700hp engine, and with standard suspension and crappy tyres, it will run very fast times. *Cars only wheelstand when set them up to on purpose, because of the traction, you have the weight alot more foward than in previous bunrout games. *No turbo modelling... I havent played NIRA drag racing, so wasnt sure how the turbo modelling would be done. The only effect it has is on the engine power curve, there is no lag. Not a difference when driving with a more responsive smaller turbo, than a more powerful big turbo. *Unrealistic engines can be built. I had a 528ci v8 with 9999hp with only HP headers and a full exhaust system. I modified a standard engine to have 18:1 compression with normal gasoline and 30psi boost with no intercooler. Thats just rediculous. *No engine blow ups *Did i mention the framerate? :) Hopefully there will be a super patch to fix these things its got plenty of potential, and maybee oneday i'll find the damn paintshop. I was very excited when installing this game, and now after 12hrs of having it, hardly compelled to play it. Luke -=87=-
