In the older version it was very clear how the Arrows suffered from
understeer in certain corners, where the Ferrari went through it without any
problems.

Well, do they? Are the cars like in GPL where each car drives/feels
different and has a different engine (ie a unique driving experience) or
it's like in GP2/3 where the car you drive is exacly the same no matter what
car it is. Just wondering if driving different cars will make a difference
to the lap times?

They had different performances in F12K, you need to turn off the
"players cars are equal" option. Your setups will now be in different
folders, one for each car model, so you might want to back them up
first.

don't expect to beat a Mclaren in a prost.

power/torque curves r different, the wheelbase/tracks r different, the

the brakes feel different in GPL and suspension setups. I'm very familiar
with GPL as I've been playing it constantly for the last 2 years ;-)
It's F1CE2000 that I'm curious about. Are there any differences in
car/engine modelling (not looks wise but performance/dynamics wise)?

Excellent! :-) anyone know's what changes from car to car? Is it just top
speed or acceleration? Or are the engines different? Is the handling
different? Any insight onto this would be greatly appreciated.
Though, the fact that I 'can' drive a slower car is already a good thing :-)

characteristics. The differences aren't as pronounced as the
differences between a Coventry and a Lotus in GPL, but then again,
modern F1 cars all probably perform a lot more closely to each other
than their 1967 counterparts (that is, the modern Arrows car is
probably more similar to a modern Ferrari than the Coventry and Lotus
in 1967).
All in all, I think F1CS2K does a great job in this area. If you want
to campaign a Minardi, you're going to suffer accordingly.

Perhaps you can check out the .VEH files. These vary for all cars,
probably. They describe physics; torque distribution for the engine,
aerodynamics etc.
So basically, it's almost everything that's changed.

OK, another question ... it seems that different cars DO have different
characterisctics/performance. Now my question is what about the car "I"
drive? What happens when I pick let's say McLaren or Minardi? Is it usiing
the DEFAULT.VHS file for whatever car I drive and therefore feels the same
from car to car? Or does it actually use 'that' particular VHS that belongs
to the car that I picked? If so, then what is the deafaut.vhs for .. what
uses it?

David,
I'm not exactly sure on this one, but I know that I can turn faster
laps at Indy in a Ferrari than I can in a Mclaren or a Williams, and
I'm even slower with a Minardi or Arrows car. The feeling varies from
team to team as well, but I don't know where the default.vhs comes into
play (maybe if you have the "All Cars Equal" selection set to "yes?").

I just looked up the vehicle files. The differences between cars are in:
-weigh
-downforce
-braking
-engine (tourque curve over the whole revrange is/can be different).
-fuel consumption
-reliability/breakdowns
The weight distribution, certer of gravity, engine weight (or mass) are the
same for all the cars.
