No, no, NO -- you can turn of all the driving aids using the function keys EXCEPT for the "Driving Assistance" aid. I have the full version, so I haven't checked out the demo yet, but in the full version, this particular assist does NOT have a function key assigned, and it can only be turned off from the "Difficulty" menu: http://www.bhmotorsports.com/reviews/f1cs5.jpg This REALLY tripped me up when I first got the game, as recounted in my preview on the BHMS site (http://www.bhmotorsports.com/reviews/f1cs5.jpg): "I found that - much to my dismay - F1CS2K did indeed feel too tame. From a standing start, spins seemed impossible, even with one tire in the grass. At speed, things were a bit better, but not up to F1 2000 standards, and I found that the physics model felt more along the lines of GP3, in fact. Which isn't bad, mind you, and I began to suspect (fear) that EA had instructed ISI to emulate Crammond's physics modeling with their latest effort. More and more laps at various tracks further confirmed that F1CS2K's physics were not performing up to the level of what I had experienced in F1 2000, which prompted me to promptly fire off an e-mail to ISI to find out if I was doing something wrong. "Much to my relief, I learned that I was indeed doing something wrong -- although I thought I had turned off all the assists, I had failed to disable one critical item. It seems that ISI has added a "Driving Assist" function, and although I had taken care of the braking, steering, and spin recovery, and other assists, I had left the "Driving Assist" item enabled. What I discovered - the hard way - was that the "Driving Assist" does effectively "dumb down" the driving model, making F1CS2K feel more along the lines of GP3, NFS:PU, or F1WGP, and less like the lively, active physics model in F1 2000. Once I disabled the Driving Assist, F1CS2K came alive" Now, EVERYBODY go CHECK THE DIFFICULTY MENU TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE "Driving Assistance" TURNED OFF! ;-) -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I've been driving F12000CE - trying to suss out how good it is. While this being no GPL, it does seem to be the best driving F1 game. Though, one thing that bugs me is the throttle response. To start of, if I rolling in 1st gear and then stomp the throttle,. the car just drives of with no hiccups ... where's the wheelspin? F1 cars should wheelspin in the 1st 2 gears at least with aggressive throttle application. This is not the case ... if feels like I don't have enough power 'cos in order to produce wheelspin, I need to be going around a corner and use the polar momentum to provoke the back into wheelspin. I'm sure that it's not my controller 'cos when I stop the car, put in neutral, rev it and throw into the 1st - the car takes of in a blurry or smoke and will wheelspin though the whole 1st gear - just like as it should. Are there some settings that can rectify this? I'm getting a bit annoyed with the fact that it's feeling a bit like an arcade game under this scenario. Where is my wheelspin?! Also, the throttle seems to be 'laggy' - it's like the engine has this huge flywheel which just keeps the engine spinning even when u lift of the throttle. This means that when I lift of the throttle, it's good second or two before the engine revs drop to where I want them - because of this I seem to be driving it either on throttle (full usually) or on the brakes - there's no finesse involved in balancing the car on the throttle though the corners (ala GPL) 'cos the engine is so unresponsive to decreasing throttle. Besides these gripes, I'm still pretty impressed with the rest of the driving model - it's certainly better that GP3 ... though, if the above 2 problems could be 'cured' then it would lift the F1CE2000 driving model another couple another closer to GPL. ps. I'm not trying to have the modern F1 cars handle/feel like GPL ones. It's just that I want the responsiveness and finesses of the GPL's driving model to come though in other sims ... GPL is still the only sim where u get to balance the car on the throttle/brakes. Maybe except Viper racing. Any insight, thoughts would be greatly appreciated. David Mocnay
Make sure you have all the driving aids off including driving assist and throttle assist. I can spin my tires in 2nd grear while moving. Everyone I know has a problem with spinning and comments on how you need to use a lot of throttle control. I have no aids selected as all. Unless there r some hidden aids that I do not know about, I'm driving aidless. All aids can be toggled with the Function keys, right? They all light up on the steering wheel .. right? If that is the case, then there are no aids selected while I'm driving. Also, as I said, I can get wheelspin when I throw in gear from neutral, but it's impossible to do while I'm rolling in 1st and then tramp it :-( I doubt it's my wheel calibration 'cos F1CE2000 does not provide in game calibration and my Window's calibration is perfect as I get perfect throttle/brake response in GPL (or GP3). Murchman, can you do a test for me - go to test session, put yourself on the track, drive along then slowdown to about 40km/h in 1st. Then while moving and in 1st, give it full throttle. Do you get any wheelspin? ...'cos I don't :-( Tyres should be lighting up like crazy but nothing :-( Any more ideas? David Mocnay Murchman wrote in message ...

Try adjusting the pedal sensitivity in the game.
I did your test and yes the wheels spun and I went sideways. I don't think you can turn off driving assist with the function keys. Murchman "David Mocnay" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:gdXX5.4662$[email hidden]...

checked all aids on the 'difficulty' setting screen. They are all off. The car is imposible to provoke into wheespin once you're rolling. Go in 1st gear, do 40 km/h and floor it - what happens? David, The ONE major thing that I don't like is the in-game joystick settings/adjustments, and this may be contributing to these throttle response problems. Games like Viper Racing and NFSPU give you a means of VIEWING and adjusting your joystick's responsiveness from within the game, and something like that would help F1CS a LOT. I have been fiddling with the various axis sensitivity and dead zone settings, and it does help a bit, but it's all a shot in the dark with no means of observing the effects of your tweaks until you enter a race and stomp on the throttle. One thing I have noticed is that when I first installed F1CS2K, the throttle did seem more responsive. Then I switched from my TSW2 to my Saitek R4 Force for a couple of days to test the FF effects and I had to adjust ALL my sensitivity settings. After switching back to my TSW2, the throttle seems VERY tame now, so I'm still trying to get back to where I was. -- JB Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
