The engine sound in the N4 demo sounds a bit like an out of tune TV, it's
certainly not as it should be. I have a Creative SB16, anyone else having
trouble?

There is a known problem with SB16's and N4 demo. Eric Busch said they
were attempting to find a fix for the final release....
I've said this before....SB16's are now at least two generations behind
and
we will see more and more of the new programs have trouble running with
these and other older cards.

I will be very sad when I have to dump my
SB16. Over the last 4.5 years it has given me zero (yes none at all)
problems!
It also sounds bloody good IMO. I hope it still has a few more miles under
the hood!

Amazing, isn't it?
I can fire up a brand-new flight sim and, with my trusty old SB16, be
treated to some of the most awsome sound effects that I've heard come out of
such a game.
Yet Papyrus are having a problem in getting a V8 engine soundrunning
properly!!

It still amazes me that some guys actually say that the SB16 is
outdated, "get a new card"
Sound is sound....
I like the quality of sound that my "old out-dated ISA slot Sb16" sound
card produces, and i see no reason at all, to update it at this stage
of the computer technology era.
Papy will fix the problem with N4 before it's release, so mine is
staying firmly entrenched in my ISA slot....
Cheers,
Ron

I'm not saying "get" a new card. But, your card will have increasing
difficulty keeping up with technological advances. Sooner or later you
will probably be 'forced' to replace it. Not yet...but that day is comming.
How many Soundblaster Pros are still around? The SB16 isn't much
younger than that old bird.

SB16. The SBLive! is great and much improved over the SB16. You get 4
channels and try using the forest environment with GPL. Superb.

Sound may be sound to ya right now, but trust me - throw in a good Live
card, and a good 4 speaker/sub setup, and you'll realize a whole new sound
experience coming from your pc. I was shocked at the difference, not only in
music but in games, you'll hear things you've never heard before.

I knew Papy wouldn't let us poor old fashioned mugs that are still
clinging grimly to our SB16's down.. :)
Good news, thanks for the info Eric.

I sure hope so because I have yet to hear any sound coming from N4. It would
have been nice if they would have included a little Sound setup like N2 and N3
had so I could at least have a fighting chance and seeing what is wrong. It
would have been nice if, during setup I would have heard the familiar "vroom
vroom" and see the message, "did you hear the sound?" Oh well, I'll just take
your word for it that they are going to get it fixed.

Thanks for that info, Eric.
Nice to know that I can hold onto my antiquated card for a while longer :-)
