I know, I know. The game was soundly bagged on here, but I couldn't
resist it when I saw it for 8 bucks at EB.
After setting the controls up, I noticed my Logitech FF wheel (old
version) making a disturbing "squeaking" noise along with a light
feedback when gears were changed.
I had just installed the new Logi drivers, so I fired up NASCAR 4 to
make sure everything was OK with the wheel.
Seems like it must be something goofy in the Le Mans FF
implementation. Is there a workaround for this, other than shutting
off the FF? It doesn't sound or feel healthy -almost like something is
sliding inside the wheel, but I've never heard or felt anything like
this with any other game/sim.
BTW, the cars have too much grip, and the game doesn't support split
axis, but I liked the track and the game seems fun. This one was
close. Seems like a nice, cheap diversion after Christmas shopping.

When you fired up NASCAR 4 did the wheel still make noise? And... if not,
then when you go back to Test Drive LeMans does it still make noise?
What about other sims??? Sound almost like it's a problem with your wheel
and not the game, but that the game is causing the wheel to do stuff that
other sim's perhaps aren't? Like it's putting undo stress on it or
something....

It only makes the noise running Le Mans, and only when I upshift.
I think it's something wacky with the game. I shut the FF off. I don't
know that the noise is anything serious, but it sure doesn't sound
good.
