I'm thinking about getting an RS Shifter (or other brand) sometime early next year. I have read a number of articles about them but it has mostly been promo stuff, so they tend to not mention any downsides. So I put this to you... Are there any common problems that you have been experiencing with the Shifters? What features should I look out for in a Shifter? What is the best brand? tia. Hey WodBoy, Couple things - for the most part, the shifters only work with the corresponding wheel. E.g., as a general rule the RS Shifter will only work with the RS Wheel. I think some people have figured out how to mix and match a few makes, but in general you'll have to be prepared to do a lot of your own custom work. FYI, Act Labs does not have drivers for the non-ff RS-Shifter for W2K or NT. However, it does work great under W98 (for me at least). I've been extremely pleased with mine and feel that it really enhanced the sim experience. The only downside I've had is the noise from the shifter - lots of shifting, popping, clicking, etc.. Those drivers who have to race in their bedroom with their wives hanging around probably know what I'm talking about. If noise is not an issue where you drive, then this probably won't be a problem. Hope this helps. Oh, how true . . how true. It is a good thing that my wheel and the pedals also make noise or she might not be able to sleep throught the noise of the shifter. Now if I could find a way to keep the cat from sneaking onto my lap when racing. He is really sly about it and he makes racing a little dificult. SLG "Jeff Causey" <[email hidden]> wrote:
