I'm on the virge of buying a new graphics card, maybe even as early as
today, to replace my Voodoo3 which is becoming a real bottleneck in my
Cel566@850 system.
Of course, I play GPL 90 % of the time, and will probably do so until
WSC is released sometime in the future.
It stands between:
Voodoo5 5500
GeForce 2 GTS
ATI Radeon (of some sorts)
It's so annoying. Pro's and con's everywhere. I want the Voodoo FSAA
for GPL, and the GeForce T&L and ...
Still waiting for reports on the Radeon GPL FSAA performance.
This post is as much a frustration vent as a question. What to choose ?

Unless you plan on buying another 3D card in the next 6 months then go with
a 64MB GeForce2 GTS, Pro, or Ultra. They look beautiful in GPL with the D3D
patch, and N4 looks awesome too. Not to mention the added extra of T&L......

Since the V5 just recently dropped into my price range I stuck one into my
computer this weekend( replaced a V3) . GPL looks wonderful and that
annoying strobing effect from the guardrail is gone. Screenshoots don't
really do FSAA justice. I can't speak for or against the other cards on your
list but I know I like this V5 a lot. Even 2x FSAA brings a large
improvement in quality and I can get acceptable frame rates on every sim i
own at the same resolutions I had before with the V3. At 4x I drop back a
step in the resolution but it still looks great.

GeForce 2 hands down. I have the GeForce2 MX 32 mb - Hercules Prophet2 3d,
and it runs GPL gorgeous, plus you'll be in good shape for near future sims.

Question:
Are there any graphics cards out there that are not so dependent on
resources from the system board? Or would my 350 mhz system be a
bottle-neck with ANY graphics card?
I guess what I'm attempting to do is upgrade my system without the expense
of "upgrading my system".
I'm probably dreaming...
