I had the PC lockups at the first corner, but solved them by
going back to the earlier 1.05 drivers and the game now
runs but every 7-10 seconds there is a slight stutter or
jump in the video. I'm not running other programs
in the background and the game flies along apart from
these jumps.
I have PIII 450, 128Mb RAM and a Voodoo 3. I
don't think performance is a problem because this doesnt
happen on any other game except Toca 2 - also by
codemasters.
Has anybody got any ideas on how to cure this?
Thanks for any help,
Steve
I have this experience too. It plays supersmooth and than it becomes
unplayable for a couple of seconds and then fine again.
It seams like the graphics engine "speeds up" to "sync" time or
something, and looses a bunch of frames in the process....
This can also be related to the "weather changes". When it changes,
the game cant quite handle it and the above happens. Cirtain stages
doesn't have dramatic changes, and therefore is better?
I noticed that enabling force feedback with the quick force update option
reduced the problem on cirtain stages (maybe)?, but its still there....
Any ideas?

I found the next biggest help was turning down the draw detail. I also
turned down the car detail, and turned off shadow and environment
mapping.
For me, I have the draw detail at 3, with Force on, at 800x600 fsaa
x2, and it runs ok on a Voodoo5, PIII800 system.
With Force feed off, I can run at higher resolutions with all details
on.
I'll settle for the lower res, and slightly slower frame rates,
because its a blast to play with the force feedback on!

in Gunman Chronicles and American Mcgee's Alice as well. The only
solution I can think of is to use directx7 and the 1.05 drivers.
Probably, you'll have to re-install windows to get rid off directx8
because it's very hard to remove properly. Another solution is to
install the 1.07 drivers again and then stop playing CMR2, but that is
probably not an option... :)

Hum. I got texture stuttering in Alice on my voodoo3 system, and the
solution was very simple: Turn on texture compression in the console:
r_ext_texture_compress 1
Go try it.

Thanks for the info. Anybody know how to remove DX8?
I really don't want to re-install windows. Are codemasters
going to address the problem with the 1.07 drivers? or 3dfx?

Cheers for that I'll have a go at this, previously I've been tried a
few things but have the same temp solution less graphics as i couldn't
live without the force feedback

Have same machine specs..
found that draw distance to minimum was the cure.
Anyone know how to turn on a frame rate counter?
