OK - I'm biting the bullet. I'm going to become a GPL fanatic. I've decided to put in the time, be patient while I develop the skills, and learn this sim. From what I gather, this is the Falcon 4 of racing. One little problem - it's hard to find the game on the shelves. Are there any retail outlets that normally keep a copy on the shelves? Also, what patches would you folks recommend? Thanks, Jeff Lackey

GPL has been seen going cheap in places like Office Depot or Staples. I have also seen it on the used games display at our local Electronic Boutique so you might want to check there too. As for patches just get the latest official one ( http://www.papy.com/ -root around a bit untill you find the GPL section ) since that contains all the latest improvements and will make you compatible with the online racing crowd. Also at the papy site you can pick up the new D3D patch if you're not using Glide . After that if you plan on racing online go to Alisons site http://alison.simracing.com/gpl/ and check the online section to get yourself set up for VROC. Lots of other good stuff at Alisons site includeing some decent setups for new drivers. After that the choice of what you do can be *enormous* since there is all kinds of stuff out there to enhance GPL. Good luck David

There are 25 copies listed on ebay right now (Friday evening), many in new sealed boxes. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=Gra nd+Prix+Legends&categoryid=&ht=1&st=0&category1=11046&maxRecordsPerPage=100& SortProperty=MetaEndSort -- don New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks: http://www.ianparker.co.uk/gpl/bapom/
Same here... can't believe what I paid to get one shipped here. Two months later at least 50 boxes hit my Office Depot. Man if I had a bit of extra cash I'd go clean 'em out and resell the games when the market price goes up :-) -- --------------- return e-mail address invalid reply to me in the newsgroup --------------- "David Erb" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:swu_5.87893$[email hidden]... > > GPL has been seen going cheap in places like Office Depot or Staples.
Yes, these ebay resellers buy up copies for $5 and sell them for a profit. lame. If anyone wants a copy email me and I'll send one out for $10 shipped. rms [email hidden]
Do you ship to Canada for $10? A friend of mine has been looking for GPL in our area for the last month or so with no luck. I'd like to surprise him with a copy if I could. Well it might be a dollar or two extra, whatever USPS says. If you definitely want one email me. I've only had requests for one copy so far, and I probably won't bother for less than 3 as the store is way on the other side of town. I did send out 3 a couple weeks ago to NFS5 drivers. (these are the original full retail factory sealed boxes btw). rms [email hidden]
Ken, Most Office Depots and Staples seem to have lots of copies in the "Sierra Classics" rack. I *think* they were about $20. I know the ones here in Victoria BC do. I've seen GPL in several stores of the Half-Price Books chain in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Usually $14.95. If you have those stores in your city, might check there. It's all over eBay for less than $15.00, some for even less than $10.00. That's where I got mine a couple of years ago.
