I've been running GPL for some time now on my V5 with no problems; as a matter of fact, it has looked fantastic. But for some reason something has changed now, and when I start up the game in glide mode the screen begins a strange shimmering/flickering as soon as I get to the main page with choice of options, player, team, replay, etc. This shimmering continues as I go to the race setup and event info page, options page, etc, but goes away as soon as I actually get into the car (though if I hit F10 the oil temp and other data at the bottom of the screen will flicker, while the driving image remains fine). The flickering returns upon exit from racing, and as I go back to the main page it's as if ghost images of all the previous pages I visited remain flickering in the background. This happens at all resolutions in glide. If I choose software mode and restart the game, there is no problem apart from the ugly graphics :-/ None of my other glide games are having this problem (they all work well). I haven't changed anything lately in my video setup- my first thought was that I'd made some mistake somewhere. I've tried a few different things to see if I could fix this - different levels of FSAA and turned it off, disabling V-synch, made sure my desktop was in 16-bit mode, and a few other things all with no effect. I browsed through some sights in search of help with no luck, but I did notice a statement on Alison Hine's site about Rendition cards experiencing a similar effect which might go away once you hit the track (which is exactly what I'm seeing). I even did a fresh install of GPL onto my other hard drive and ran it to see if I'd corrupted something within my GPL files, but I experienced the same thing in the other install (btw- it was kind of odd to run the 1.0 version of gpl again with no FF effects; I sure seemed faster with that version too). Once again, GPL is the only game or program which seems to be affected. Now, I realize that its not the end of the world since I can race just fine (well, within my own limited skill I should say), but it's really annoying and worked fine before so there should be some solution. I'd appreciate any advice or help, and believe me I'm of no threat to anyone on GPLRank so don't let that stop you. :-) What's most maddening is that everything was working wonderfully before. The best explanation I can come up with is that my card is mourning the dissolution of 3dfx. System- P3-800 V5 with latest non-beta drivers (1.04.00 version with card on default clock setting) 256 mb ram CTX VL700 monitor win 98 GPL 1.2 LWFF wheel thanks

Sounds like the kind of glitch you get with triple buffering switched on. Make sure that it's off in the glide section of your video properties util. Derek.
