Whats the best rally game out there for PC, i've heard mixed comments about CMR2 and Pro Rally 2001 is s'posed to be crap. Any suggestions? Luke -=87=-
Don't do it, Bruce. Just let it go . . . . :) --DK "Geordie Boot Boy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:91ie9f$erh$[email hidden]...

Ya know... I'm getting sick and tired of hearing all the crap on this forum about the various rally games that have hit the shelves in the past two or so years. It seems there is always SOMEONE who hates Rally game "X", for instance: I've heard the physics of RC2000/Mobil One Rally are lousy, that the car control of Rally Masters is too nervous, that the track/road of CMR2 is too wide, that Pro Rally 2001 has an arcadish sounding co-driver, and crappy car sound, etc, etc, etc... All these things may be true if your a purist, but... All these games also have their merits, and as things are, until the folks at Papyrus or some equivalent, decide to write a Rally game with separate physics for each corner of the car, ala GPL and N4 we'll have to live with the aforementioned titles. Which in my opinion are all GREAT in their own way... So if your looking for THE best rally game, as Alex said above their really isn't any one that stands out as being superior to the rest, in all aspects. It all depends on what you are looking for in a Rally sim. If you want great scenery then RC 2000 or Rally Masters would be the pick, if your looking for long realistic stages then again RC 2000 is the best, CMR2 has the best looking cars with graphics that are basically on par with Rally Masters, and Pro Rally 2001, and a forgiving physics engine that makes for a lot of fun (at least based on the demo). Rally Masters has car physics that have earned a lot of praise on this forum, and it's multi-player options are probably the best out there. My suggestion... D/L the demo's for each and give them a shot.. Or better yet shop around... RC2000 and CMR1 have been around for over a year and you should be able to find them for $20 US or less! If you can find a good deal... Buy them all and depending on your mood fire up the one you like best... Just my 2 cents... I agree, they all seem to have their own merits and good for different reasons. But if you want a true 'simulation', then none of them really fit the bill. They all have flaws. As for the best 'game', I would say probably CM1 and 2 are good, Rally Masters is very good and lots of fun. But we still miss a good Rally Sim :( James "Jay J" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:GV5%5.41508$[email hidden]... > Ya know... Read this review of RC2000 from Randy Magruder at Digital Sports. http://www.digitalsports.com/pc4/rally_championship/review.html Also, this is a review of the game before the latest patch which improves the sim substantially, especially the steering and damage. I don't know if it will happen though, how many people would buy it, the chances of going off and finishing your race in the trees on a rally sim would I guess be even higher than track racing Rally masters I liked,CM2 on the PC is great as well.. combination of the 2 would be great, give me 20-30 mile stages Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

The developers of Pro Rally 2001 said that they have developed the perfect combination of those two games.... I have only tested the demo and disliked it. In my opinion, it was no fun. Petter Solberg, the up and coming rally champion, prefer CMR ;-) -- -Ole-Martin-Mrk- Today is yesterday tomorrow

ROTFL!! (yes, I played PR2001 :) Andre

It just feels 90 percent right as far as physics, while most of the others are somewhat lacking to a greater degree. Mobil 1Rally is easily the best looking racer of any kind, magnificent scenery and replays, but it feels a bit wrong as far as physics, although still decent enough. Both have their merits, but I like Rally Masters best.

I've been playin' the beejeezus out of Rally Masters, and I'm starting to get seriously annoyed with that Neal Bates fellow! ;) Seriously, it's a blast, a load of fun, and challenging for us non-GPL-gods. The only thing I wonder about is the AI - a close race looks a whole lot like a professional wrestling match...beatin, bangin', bumpin'. I'm gonna have to check out this stuff for real, if it's on SpeedVision. What they need next is that Paris-Dakaar thing; now that's cool. Put me in one of those trucks, baby!
