I currently own a Voodoo 5 and was wondering how many of you have switched to the NVIDA Geforce 2 cards? I am running a celery 566 at 867 and run my resolution at 1024x768 with 2XAA with everything turned on but mirrors to just track and cars and all the slider bars to 75% and get an average of 45 FPS (sometimes higher sometimes lower). What are you guys getting with the geforce cards? Thanks John
had a V5 switched to Geforce2 GTS Pro ...was getting 40 FPS now getting 60 or more FPS "John McClaren" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:FNA%5.169479$[email hidden]... > I currently own a Voodoo 5 and was wondering how many of you have switched > to the NVIDA Geforce 2 cards? > > I am running a celery 566 at 867 and run my resolution at 1024x768 with2XAA > with everything turned on but mirrors to just track and cars and all the > slider bars to 75% and get an average of 45 FPS (sometimes highersometimes

I you are running an Athlon, it's good to stay away from the Hercules Geforce2 MX card. I had one in an Athlon 850 and it locked up all the time and I switched back to the Voodoo3 and the problem has disappeared. I was getting lockups in all games on my system, in DX7, DX8, and OpenGl modes. Another friend just got one of those cards with a 1.0 Ghz Thunderbind and the same deal, lockups after lockups, even in Alshur's Gate or whatever that is. Anyway, dont know if this is a problem with all Geforce2 cards but I would buy one from a place you can return it to if you experience the same problems. The frame rate is definitely better but the overall value is lost ... Or just be sure to buy that Athlon from somewhere where you can return it. :) CharlieB "Phillip Malphrus, Jr." <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:TNB%5.87529$[email hidden]... > I you are running an Athlon, it's good to stay away from the Hercules > Geforce2 MX card. Ymenard, I have been reading your posts on this board for years. So I am no stranger to sims or this board. You should know that in computerland 6 months is a long time. I bought the V5 when it first came out (actually preordered it) so now I think it is time to upgrade so to me it's old. I prefer to be called vertically challenged. :) John -- "ymenard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:29P%5.92911$[email hidden]... > >"extractor" <[email hidden]> wrote > > How does "Discontinued Voodoo 5 sound"? > > Who the heck are you, troll? > > I'm sorry but a V5 is anything BUT old. > > > > > > -- > -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> > -- May the Downforce be with you... > -- http://www.WeRace.net > -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise > how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world. > > >
