I'm running an 800 MHZ Thunderbird on an A7V with 256 MB of Crucial CAS2 PC 133 RAM. ATI XPERT 128 PCI Video card and Windows 98 FE with all the critical updates available from Microsoft installed. DTRSC locks up at random while playing the game. Sometimes I can run a few races, other times I can't get past the first couple of menus. I recently upgraded my system to the Athlon. Prior to that I ran the game on a 250 MHZ Pentium MMX with the same OS and Video card with no problems other than I didn't have enough power to run the game smoothly. I've tried shutting down all background programs and making sure I had the latest video drivers. I've tried running with DirectX 7 and 8 with the same results. All my other Windows applications run fine and the CPU is running around 51 degrees C, so I don't think it's a heat problem. Any other Thunderbird/A7V owners had this kind of problem with DTRSC? Are any of you able to run the game with no lockups? Any suggestions? Thanks, Rick
Hi Rick! I've got almost the same rig as yours but with Geforce2 and I've had ~1E+6 problems with it, until ASUS released the BIOS upgrade 1005a. BTW, you're using the ASUS AGP-drivers, right? DTRSC isn't the problem here, it's the A7V mobo... /Krister "Rick Williamson" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:eGE%5.22613$[email hidden]... > I'm running an 800 MHZ Thunderbird on an A7V with 256 MB of Crucial CAS2PC > 133 RAM. I found 1005a and flashed my bios. I was able to get through an entire event without locking up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, thanks for the tip! BTW did 1005a fix all your lockup problems? I've read that some have had problems with the Geforce2 cards locking up on the A7V motherboards. Are you happy with yours? How does DTRSC look with it?
